Six players earn first team honors
Seven Boston College lacrosse players earned Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Northeast honors, announced by the IWLCA on Friday. The seven players earning spots on the all-region team is a new program record. Last year five BC players were honored.
Â
Sam Apuzzo, Dempsey Arsenault, Lauren Daly, Kaileen Hart, Hannah Hyatt and Elizabeth Miller were each named to the first team, which is a program best. The six selections were also the most by a single team in the Northeast region. Senior Carly Bell was named to the second team.
Â
Apuzzo and Miller were first team honorees last season, while Arsenault earned second team honors
Â
These Eagles are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-American teams. The IWLCA will celebrate the All-Americans during the Divisional All-American Announcement Shows, which will be online in mid-June.
Â
Fourth-ranked Boston College (19-1) finished as the regular season conference champions with a perfect 17-0 overall mark and 7-0 in the ACC. The Eagles were also undefeated in ACC action (7-0) and advanced to the final before losing to North Carolina.Â
The Eagles will open play in the 2018 NCAA Tournament on Sunday (1 p.m.) at the Newton Soccer & Lacrosse Complex. BC will play the winner of Friday's Syracuse/Princeton match up. Both games will be available on WatchESPN.com and the ESPN app.Â
