Eagles Drop Game One to Notre Dame, 8-4
April 20, 2018 | Softball
BC recorded a season-high five stolen bases as a team on the night
Â
Notre Dame jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning when Abby Sweet reached on a hit by pitch and Katie Marino drew a walk to give Notre Dame runners on first and second with only one out. A wild pitch, sacrifice fly and a double allowed four runs to cross.
Â
BC would scratch across a run in the following inning behind two stolen bases by junior Lexi DiEmmanuele and a sacrifice fly by senior Jordan Chimento. The Irish took control of the game in the sixth inning though when Alexis Holloway led off with a double and Alexis Bazos reached on an infield single. A sacrifice fly followed by a double and a single allowed Notre Dame to take a 7-1 advantage. The Eagles added three runs in the sixth and seventh innings but it would not be enough to overcome the Irish.
Â
Senior Jessica Dreswick, who came into the game with two outs in the first inning, pitched 6.1 innings, allowing four runs.
Â
BC returns to ACC action when it hosts Notre Dame for game two of the three game series at the Harrington Athletics Village at Brighton Fields on Saturday, April 21 at 1 p.m.

Sophomore Olivia Markopoulos entered the game as a pinch runner and quickly stole second. Senior Chloe Sharabba drew a walk to put a runner on first and second for BC with two out but a strikeout by Murphy ended the inning.
- Alexis Holloway led off the sixth inning with a double to right center. Alexis Bazos reached on an infield single and Halloway moved to third on a throwing error by Sharabba. Ail Wester hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score Halloway. Marino hit a double to right center, plating Bazos. A single up the middle by Brooks allowed Marino to score, putting Notre Dame 7-1.
