Cook Named ACC Player of the Week

She is the first rookie to win the weekly award since 2011
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College freshman CC Cook was named Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon. The rookie batted a perfect seven-for-seven from the plate over the weekend to help lead the Eagles to a series sweep of Virginia.

In game one against the Cavaliers, the designated player collected two hits, including one triple, and scored a team-leading three runs. She stole one base and drew one walk. In the following game later that day, Cook picked up three hits, one of which was another three-bagger. The Phoenix, Ariz. native led the team in runs with three on the day. Two more hits by Cook in the series finale helped the freshman earn a slugging percentage of 1.571 and an on base percentage of 1.000 for the weekend.

The weekly honor was the first for Cook and the first for the Eagles this season. The last player to win the award was Tatiana Cortez on March 14, 2017. Cook is the first freshman to be selected since Tory Speer was named Player of the Week on May 10, 2011.

The Eagles (12-15) travel down the road to play Boston University (16-14) on Wednesday, March 28 at 4 p.m.
