BC had seven top 10 finishes on the day
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Boston College men's track and field team opened its outdoor season at the UNF Spring Break Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla. on Friday, March 23 – Saturday, March 24.

The men had a strong showing in the 800 meter run as freshman Michael Hains finished in eighth place and sophomore Stephen Valvano was close behind in ninth place. Junior Ian Ritchie had the highest individual finish in the running events on the day with a sixth place finish in the 1500 meter run. In the field events, sophomore Avery Mckenzie took third place in the triple jump.

As a team, the Eagles had seven top 10 finishes on the day.

The men will return to action when they travel to Stanford, Calif. to compete in the Stanford Invitational.

BC Highlights:
- Freshman Ryan Russell crossed the line first for BC in the 100 meter dash finals in 20th place with a time of 11.40. He was followed close behind by freshmen J'Saun Bastien and Stephen Windisch who finished at 22.68 and 23.11, respectively.
- Windisch was also the top BC finisher in the 400 meter dash with a time of 50.93, which was good for 18th place overall.
- Michael Hains took eighth place in the 800 meter run, crossing the line in 1:54.61. Valvano was right behind him in ninth place at 1:55.99. Junior Andrew Willis finished in 15th place with a time of 1:57.78.
- Ritchie ran a 3:54.80 to earn a sixth place finish in the 1500 meter run. Sophomore Sean Sullivan, junior Benjamin Osipow and Kyle freshman Faddis crossed the line in 11th, 12th, and 13th place respectively at 3:59.67, 4:00.09 and 4:00.74.
- Freshman Will Peters ran the 5000 meter run in 15:22.43 for an 11th place finish.
- Freshman Max Herrerias took eighth place in the 400 meter hurdles, crossing the line in 55.55. He was followed right behind by junior Michael Saxon who finished in 55.62.
- The men's 4x400 meter relay team finished in seventh place out of 10 teams with a time of 3:27.94.
- McKenzie took third place in the triple jump with a jump of 45-05.25.
The men will next participate in the Stanford Invitational in Stanford, Calif. On Friday, March 30 – Saturday, March 31.
