Seventh-Inning Rally Secures Come-Back Win Against Fordham, 4-2

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Boston College softball team came from behind to defeat Fordham, 4-2, on Sunday afternoon to finish 3-2 on the weekend at the Easton Crimson Classic.

Fordham jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning when Madi Shaw hit a two-RBI single. The Eagles tacked on a run in the third as freshman Gianna Randazza led off with a double, junior Lexi DiEmmanuele moved her over to third on a bunt single to the catcher and senior Chloe Sharabba hit a sacrifice fly to score the runner.

BC tied the score at 2-2 in the sixth when a sacrifice fly by junior Carly Severini scored Sharabba. Senior Jordan Chimento led off the seventh inning with a single, advanced to second on a ground out and advanced to third on a wild pitch. DiEmmanuele laid down a bunt in the following at-bat and Chimento was running to successfully complete the suicide squeeze for the Eagles and give them the lead. A single by Sharabba drove home one more run, securing a 4-2 victory.

The Eagles return to action when they open ACC play next week at Duke in Durham, N.C.

- Senior pitcher Jessica Dreswick recorded her sixth complete game of the season and her 34th career complete game. She is in eighth place in the BC record books in complete games, just one complete game behind Britney Thompson (07'). The right-hander allowed only two runs, four hits and recorded six strikeouts.
- Sharabba collected her team-leading 23rd and 24th hits and scored her team-leading 16th run of the season. She also leads the team in multi-hit games with eight.
- Senior Annie Murphy picked up her third double of the season and is second on the team with 20 hits.
- Randazza hit her first collegiate double.
- DiEmmanuele showed off her speed, reaching base on two bunt singles in the game. The junior also picked up the game-winning RBI.
- With a single in the sixth inning, rookie Cami Sellers is leading the freshmen class with 12 hits.
- BC was perfect in the field on the day, marking the sixth time this season that the team has recorded one error or less in a game.

How it Happened:
- Fordham threatened in the first as the first two batters reached on a walk and a single, respectively. A ground out to first moved both runners over a base. Madi Shaw hit a single through the right side to score both runners and give the Rams an early 2-0 lead.
- Randazza led off the third inning with a double to center field. DiEmmanuele laid down a bunt single to the catcher and beat out the throw to first, advancing Randazza on the play. Sharabba hit a deep sacrifice fly to center field to drive home Randazza and cut Fordham's lead in half, 2-1.
- Sharabba led off the sixth inning with a single to the shortstop and advanced to second on a fielding error. A line out by Murphy advanced Sharabba to third and a fly out to center field by Severini scored the tying run.
- Chimento led off the seventh inning with a single to right field and advanced to second on a ground out by junior Allyson Moore to put the winning run on second with no out. Sophomore Olivia Markopoulos drew a walk. Both runners advanced a base on a wild pitch. With the suicide squeeze on, DiEmmanuele bunted to the pitcher, scoring Chimento and advancing Markopoulos to third. Sharabba then hit a single to center field to score Markopoulos and give the Eagles a 4-2 lead.
