Rapp Named ACC Pitcher of the Week

The righty threw six no-hit innings
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College senior Brian Rapp was named Atlantic Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league announced on Monday afternoon. The right-handed starter struck out a career-high 10 and did not allow a hit in the Eagles' 3-1 victory at Santa Clara on Sunday afternoon.

The Mendham, N.J., native allowed a lead-off walk to start the game before retiring the next 13 straight hitters. The only other baserunner he allowed was a hit batter in the fifth inning. Rapp threw 93 pitches in his first outing of the season, earning the victory. He also struck out SCU's Jake Brodt, who hit three home runs the day before, both times the two faced off in the BC win.

This is the first weekly honor for Rapp and the first for the Eagles since Justin Dunn collected the accolades on May 23, 2016.

Miami's Danny Reyes and Notre Dame's Eric Gilgenbach were voted ACC Baseball Co-Players of the Week to go along with Rapp's honor.

The Eagles (2-1) return to action on Thursday, Feb. 22 with the 27th exhibition game against the Boston Red Sox at JetBlue Park Fenway South in Ft. Myers, Fla. They will then take on three Big 10 team at the annual Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Fla.
