Dreswick Throws Complete Game Shutout in 3-0 Victory Over Nebraska

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Boston College softball team defeated Nebraska, 3-0, behind seven scoreless innings by senior pitcher Jessica Dreswick, in the third and final day of the ACC/B1G Ten Challenge on Sunday morning to finish 2-2 on the weekend.

The Eagles scored three runs in the first two innings behind a double by junior Carly Severini, a single each by freshmen Cami Sellers and CC Cook and a single by junior Allyson Moore. Severini led BC on the day with three hits, including one double, an RBI and a run scored.

Dreswick only allowed three hits on the day and recorded four strikeouts to shut down the Huskers. Nebraska received 29 votes in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll. The Eagles improve to 3-6 and look for their fourth win of the season when they travel to Miami, Fla. on Feb. 23 to participate in the FIU Classic.

- Dreswick tossed her third complete game of the season and the 31 of her career. She is now in ninth place in the BC record books in complete games thrown. The right-hander also now has six career shutouts, which is tied for sixth place in the record books.
- Junior Carly Severini led the team on the day with three hits, including one double. She also collected one RBI and scored one run.
- Freshman Cami Sellers collected another hit on the day as she continues to lead the freshmen in hits with six.
- Senior Annie Murphy is now tied with classmate Chloe Sharabba with a team-leading 11 hits on the season.
- The Eagles notched a season-high nine hits in the game. Â

How it Happened:
- Boston College took an early lead in the bottom of the first inning when senior Chloe Sharabba drew a walk and Severini doubled to center field to pick up an RBI and drive home Sharabba. Sellers then drove a single to right field to score Severini and give the Eagles a 2-0 lead.
- The Eagles added to their lead in the bottom of the second when freshman CC Cook hit a single to center field to lead off the inning. Junior Lexi DiEmmanuele laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance Cook to second base with one out. Moore drove a single to right field to drive home Cook and increase BC's lead to 3-0.
- Despite a lead-off double by Alyvia Simmons followed by a walk by Rylie Unzicker to put a runner on first and second with nobody out in the top of the fourth inning, Dreswick forced three ground-outs to hold the Huskers scoreless.
