
Eagles Fall to Houston and Texas A&M in Second Day of Aggie Classic

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Boston College softball team fell to the University of Houston, 5-4, and No. 6 Texas A&M, 11-3, in the second day of the Aggie Classic on Saturday.

The Eagles played another close game against Houston in their first matchup of the day as a home run by freshman Cami Sellers tied the score at 4-4 in the top of the sixth. The Cougars scored in the bottom of the seventh however, to secure the victory.

In the second game of the day against Texas A&M, BC took an early 2-0 lead, but six runs by the Aggies in the bottom of the fourth inning gave them a commanding lead that they would hold for the remainder of the game.

BC Highlights:
A double by Houston's Lindsey Stewart started off the bottom of the seventh inning. She advanced on a ground out to the shortstop and a dropped fly ball three batters later allowed Stewart to score and give the Cougars a 5-4 walk-off win.

BC Highlights:
- Freshman Cami Sellers had her first collegiate hit - a single to the shortstop – in the top of the first inning against Houston. She notched her first collegiate home run to right center field in the top of the sixth inning. She finished the day with three hits overall.
- Junior Lexi DiEmmanuele, who is currently second in the BC record books with 54 stolen bases, stole another bag in the first game of the day.
- Senior Chloe Sharabba leads BC in the tournament so far with four runs, six hits and three doubles. The co-captain has also drawn four walks.
- Junior Carly Severini had three total hits on the day for BC and scored one run.
- Pitchers Jessica Dreswick and Allyson Frei combined for eight strikeouts on the day.
- In her 4.2 innings pitched, Frei allowed only four walks.

How it Happened:
- BC got the scoring started early against Houston when DiEmmanuele used her speed to reach base on a bunt and then steal second. Sharabba followed suit with a single to the shortstop. She stole second, allowing DiEmmanuele to score on a throwing error. Senior Annie Murphy then grounded out to second, picking up an RBI by forcing Sharabba home. Senior Jordan Chimento drew a walk and a pair of singles by Sellers and junior Carly Severini allowed Chimento to score as the Eagles took an early 3-0 lead.
- Houston got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning when Sarah Queen hit a single to center field and advanced to second on the throw. Queen picked up an RBI as she drove in Kaylin Crumpton who reached base on a walk. Dreswick forced a ground out shortly after to hold the Cougars to just one run.
- The Cougars added another run in the bottom of the fifth inning when Arielle James walked and Maya Thomas bunted for a single. James scored on a throwing error, making the score 3-2.
- Houston tied the score in the bottom of the fifth inning when Kaylin Crumpton singled to right field to drive in Thomas. The Cougars took the lead when Mariah Garcia singled to center field allowing Stewart, who reached base on a hit by pitch, to score.
- The Eagles tied the score in the top of the sixth when Sellers hit a deep home run to right center.
- Stewart was able to score on a dropped fly ball in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Cougars a 5-4 victory.

Texas A&M scored six runs behind five singles and a stolen base in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 9-2 lead in the game.

How it Happened:
- The Eagles got the scoring started early in the top of the first inning when Sharabba doubled to right center and Murphy walked to give the Eagles two runners on base with one out. Sellers blasted a double to left center to collect two RBIs and give BC an early 2-0 lead.
- The Aggies added two more runs in the bottom of the inning when Kaitlyn Alderink scored on a throwing error after a couple of singles by the Aggies moved her over to third base. Texas A&M scored again when a walk forced home Ashley Walters, tying the score at 2-2.
- Texas A&M took the lead when Riley Sartain homered to left field in the bottom of the third inning, making it 3-2.
- The Aggies added six more runs off of five hits in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 9-2 lead.
- Sharabba drew a walk in the top of the fifth inning and advanced on single by Murphy, followed by a throwing error. She scored on a ground out by Sellers.
- Tori Vidales hit a two-run homerun for the Aggies in the bottom of the fifth inning to take an 11-3 lead and end the game.
