
Ortlepp's 19-Point Effort Not Enough In Loss To Wake Forest

Sophomore guard Taylor Ortlepp hit five three's in a home loss.
The Boston College women's basketball team dropped a home game to ACC foe, Wake Forest, 67-59, on Thursday night at Conte Forum.

Boston College is now 6-16 overall and 1-8 in the ACC. Wake Forest improved to 11-12 and 3-7 in the conference.

With BC down, 31-17, at the half, sophomore Taylor Ortlepp took it upon herself to spark the offense. She scored 16 second-half points including four three-pointers in a valiant effort that fell short in the final minute of play. Ortlepp led a second-half comeback as she scored 10 points in the third quarter to keep the Eagles within reach of Wake Forest.

Freshman Milan Bolden-Morris came alive in the second half as she scored all 18 of her points in the final two quarters.

Wake Forest held off the Eagles by hitting six-of-seven free throws in the final 40 seconds of action after BC cut the lead to four points.

BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Sophomore Taylor Ortlepp finished with a team-high 19 points, hit five three-pointers and grabbed five boards. It was the third time in her career in which she made five three-pointers. She went 5-for-7 from long range in a win over North Carolina on Jan. 5. She first made five three-pointers as a freshman against North Carolina on the road.
- Freshman Milan Bolden-Morris chipped in with 18 points while Georgia Pineau had seven points and five rebounds.
- Boston College and Wake Forest exchanged baskets in the first quarter until the Deacs went on a 6-0 run to pull ahead, 11-5. Wake held a 13-7 lead after the first quarter as BC shot just 27.5 percent from the floor.
- BC's offense continued to struggle in the second quarter. The Eagles were outscored, 20-10, by Wake Forest as the Deacs held a 31-17 lead at the half. BC shot just 28.6 percent from the floor while the road team shot 44.4 percent.
- Â Taylor Ortlepp gave the Eagles a boost as in the third quarter as she scored 10 of the 19 points and BC was down just 50-36.
- In the fourth quarter BC mounted a late run at the Deacs. Down 13 with 3:25 to play, Milan Bolden-Morris hit a foul shot followed by a three-pointer and a mid-range jumper to cut the Wake Forest lead to seven points.
- After a turnover by Wake Forest, Taylor Ortlepp sunk her fifth three-pointers with 1:51 to play and Boston College was down just four points, 59-55.
- The two teams exchanged baskets but Wake Forest pulled away for good as the Deacs hit six-of-seven foul shots in the final 40 seconds.Â
- Boston College will travel to Raleigh to play NC State on Sunday, Feb. 4 at 2 p.m.
