
Eagles Fall Short at NC State

RALEIGH, N.C. – Despite a 21 point-seven rebound effort from sophomore Georgia Pineau, Boston College lost to ACC foe NC State, 72-54, at Reynolds Coliseum on Sunday afternoon.
Boston College is now 6-17 overall and 1-9 in the ACC. NC State is now 19-5 overall and 8-3 in the conference.
Down seven in the first quarter, Boston College mounted a comeback sparked by a gritty first half performance from Taylor Ortlepp. The Eagles sophomore guard scored 14 of the teams 25 first half points as BC and NC State battled to a tied game after 20 minutes.
The third quarter hurt the Eagles as NC State outscored BC, 29-14. The Eagles battled back in the fourth but could not get the offense rolling in the final quarter.

BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Sophomore Georgia Pineau finished with 21 points with seven boards. She scored 19 of her 21 points in the second half. Pineau was 8-for-14 from the floor in the game.
- Fellow sophomore Taylor Ortlepp chipped in with 18 points, 14 in the first half.
- BC went 12-for-14 from the foul line in the game.
- Georgia Pineau and Milan Bolden-Morris grabbed seven boards apiece in the loss.
- NC State came out with a quick 5-0 lead. BC's Taylor Ortlepp cut into that lead with two quick three-pointers as the Eagles took 6-5 lead at 7:01 to play. The Wolfpack ended the quarter on a 6-2 run to take a 17-10 lead.
- Ortlepp opened the second quarter with a three followed by free throws rom Georgia Pineau and one by Martina Mosetti and BC was down,18-16 with 7:30 to play in the half.
- A jumper by Martina Mosetti tied the game at 18-18. The Eagles took a 23-20 lead on five straight point from Ortlepp with 2:05 to play. After a long three-pointer from NC State tied the game at 23-23, the teams exchanged free throws in the final 7.9 seconds to keep the game knotted at 25-25 at halftime.
- BC shot just 26.9 percent from the floor in the half and was down, 19-21, on the boards. Both teams had eight turnovers at the hal.
- Taylor Ortlepp kept BC going offensively as she had 14 points with three three-pointers. She was 4-for-8 from the floor in the half.
- After exchanging hoops to start the third quarter, the Wolfpack went on a 9-0 run, seven straight from Kiara Leslie for a 40-31 leads with 5:13 to play in the quarter.
- NC State defense held Ortlepp to two points in the quarter as BC went down, 54-39, after three quarters. The Eagles went 0-for-4 from the arc and was outscored 29-14 in the quarter.
- In the fourth quarter, the Eagles offense was supplied by Georgia Pineau who had seven points. BC struggled to score as the Wolfpack keyed in on Ortlepp and Milan Bolden-Morris.
- NC State was led by Kiara Leslie with 17 points and 11 boards while Akela Maze added 16 points.
- Boston College will travel to Atlanta to play Georgia Tech on Thursday at 7 p.m.
- The Eagles will return to Conte Forum on Sunday, Feb. 11 against Pittsburgh.
