The standout pair will make their Team USA debut in January
SPARKS, Md. – Two senior standouts from the Boston College lacrosse team have been named to the U.S. National Team for the first time in their careers. Dempsey Arsenault and Sam Apuzzo will make their Team USA debut Jan. 25, 2019, as they take the field at the Spring Premiere at Stanford University. The Eagles' assistant coach Kayla Treanor is set to play alongside the pair.
Apuzzo, reigning Honda Lacrosse Award and Tewaaraton Award winner, sits at the top of four individual single-season records for the Eagles following her junior season, where she raked in 129 points, 88 assists, 41 assists and 163 draw controls as the team made their second consecutive NCAA Championship appearance.
Similarly, Arsenault has made a name for herself as she holds the fourth individual single-season record for points (103), fifth in goals (64), third in assists (39) and second in both ground balls (59) and draw controls (111).
The duo will join just six other current collegiate players in addition to 11 former World Cup champions as they are coached by U.S. senior team head coach Jenny Levy.
Treanor, who has been with the Eagles since 2017, has been a consistent piece of Team USA's roster since wrapping up her standout career at Syracuse in 2016. Apuzzo and Arsenault will captain the Eagles' squad during their senior campaigns along classmate Brooke Troy and returning graduate student Kenzie Kent.
