BOSTON COLLEGE VS. COLUMBIA - ALL-TIME SERIES
- Today's marks the third all-time meeting between the two teams.
- Last year, BC downed Columbia, 81-66, on Dec. 12, 2017.
- BC won the first meeting, 57-53, at the Omni in Atlanta.
- John Garris had 23 points and Michael Adams 13 in the win.
- The game was part of the Cotton States Classic in-season tournament on Dec. 30, 1982.
BOSTON COLLEGE VERSUS THE IVY LEAGUE
- Boston College is 89-31 in games versus Ivy League opponents.
- Harvard is BC's' most common Ivy League foe (50 meetings; 34-16).
- BC versus the Ivy League: Brown (19-1); Columbia (2-0); Cornell (3-0); Dartmouth (21-9); Penn (1-2); Princeton (1-0); Yale (8-3).
- This is the 11th straight season with an Ivy League opponent.
KY BOWMAN:Â THE NATION'S MOST DYNAMIC GUARD
- Ky Bowman is the Nation's Most Dynamic Guard is the only player in the country averaging at least: 19.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 0.8 blocks, and 1.1 steals per game.
- In 2017-18, Bowman was the only player in the country in to average at least 17.6 points; 6.8 rebounds; 4.7 assists per game.
- Since 1990, only 10 players have at least those season averages.
- One of those players was National Player of the Year - Denzel Valentine of Michigan State in 2016.
- Three were top three NBA Draft picks: Ben Simmons, LSU (#1, 2016); Evan Turner, Ohio State (#2, 2010); and Penny Hardaway, Memphis (#3, 1993).
- Five were first round NBA Draft picks: Simmons; Turner; Hardaway; Valentine (#14, 2016); Bob Sura, FSU (#17, 1995).
- Seven were named their conference's Player of the Year: Valentine (2015-16); Hardaway (1991-92); Turner (2009-10); Trenton Hassell, Austin Peay (1999-2000); Ricky Minard, Morehead State (2002-03); T.J. Cline, Richmond (2016-17); Patrick Cole N.C. Central (2016-17).

WYNSTON TABBS: ADDING ANOTHER DYNAMIC TO BOSTON COLLEGE BACKCOURT
- Wynston Tabbs is the only freshman nationally to average 14.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.3 steals/game.
- The Suitland, Md. native ranks seventh in the ACC and 30th nationally among all freshmen in scoring.
- His 28 points against Sacred Heart on Nov. 29 ranks as the 28th-best single-game scoring performance this season.
- The last BC freshman to average better than 14.9 ppg through his first eight collegiate games: Craig Smith (19.0 ppg, 2002-03).

- Boston College is 13-9 all-time in games played on the December 12 calendar date.
- Last year, the Eagles also faced off against Columbia, earning an 81-66 win over the Lions at Conte Forum.
- Three times on December 12, Boston College scored more than 114 points: 128 points vs. Vermont (1978); 122 vs. Holy Cross (1987); 114 at Harvard (1989).
- December 12 is also marks the multi-faceted celebration of National Ambrosia, National Ding-A-Ling, National Poinsettia, and National Gingerbread House Days.
- Several historic events occurred on December 12 - 1787: Pennsylvania becomes the second state to ratify the U.S. Constitution; 1870: Joseph H. Rainey of South Carolina took his seat and was the first African-American congressman; 1899: George F. Bryant of Boston patents the wooden golf tee; 1917: Fr. JORDAN CHATMAN HEATING UP
- Jordan Chatman scored a game-high 28 points versus Providence on Dec. 4. It was his third career game with at least 28 points.
- He made 8-of-12 shots from the floor, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. Chatman was 9-for-9 from the foul line.
- Entering the Providence game, the senior sharpshooter had been just 1-for-12 from 3-point land over his previous two games.
STEFFON MITCHELL: CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARDS
- In 42 career games, Steffon Mitchell has grabbed double-digit rebounds on 18 occasions. BC is 11-7 in those games.
- He ranks third in the ACC - and 44th nationally - in rebounding, at 9.3 boards per outing.
- Last season, Mitchell became the first true freshman in BC history to average better than 8.0 rebounds per game.
- The Shakopee, Minn. native pulled down 8.3 rebounds per game and is the ACC's third-leading returning rebounder.
- Mitchell has four double-doubles so far in 2018-19 and six for his career.
TABBS IN RARE COMPANY, PT. I: SINGLE-GAME
- Wynston Tabbs' stat line vs. Sacred Heart - 28 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals - puts him in rare company.
- Since 1996-97, only 11 players in the ACC have produced at least that stat line in a single game.
- The last ACC player to do so:Â Ky Bowman vs. Fairfield, Dec. 21, 2016 - 33 points, eight rebounds, five assists, three steals.
- Tabbs' 28 points was the most by a BC freshman since Bowman had 29 vs. Notre Dame on Feb. 14, 2017.
TABBS IN RARE COMPANY, PT. II: TWO-GAME SPAN
- For the week ending Dec. 3, Wynston Tabbs averaged 22.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 3.0 steals in a 2-0 week.
- Since 1996-97, only two freshmen in the ACC have posted at least that stat line over a two-game span.
- From Dec. 31, 2016-Jan. 4, 2017, NC State's Dennis Smith Jr. averaged 24.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 8.0 apg, 3.5 spg.
- Chris Paul of Wake Forest posted 26.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 6.0 apg, 3.5 spg over a two-game span from Feb. 15-18, 2004.
- The last BC player to do so was Ryan Sidney, from Nov. 28-Dec. 1, 2001: 25.0 ppg, 13.5 rpg, 6.0 apg, 3.0 spg.
JAIRUS HAMILTON ANNOUNCING PRESENCE WITH AUTHORITY
- Jairus Hamilton scored a season-high 13 points against Providence, making 5-of-8 shots from the floor and 3-of-3 from the FT line.
- He has scored in double figures in three of his last four games, averaging 8.8 points per game over the span.
- The Charlotte native is shooting 52% from the floor - including 12-for-16 inside the arc.
- Hamilton nearly registered his first collegiate double-double vs. Sacred Heart, with 10 points and nine rebounds.
