Eagles Move to 7-2 with 82-73 win over Columbia

Bowman, Popovic each tally double-doubles; Tabbs adds 19 points
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Ky Bowman led three players in double figures as Boston College beat Columbia, 82-73, on Wednesday night. The Eagles improved to 7-2 overall - the team's best start since the 2010-11 season.
Trailing 5-4 early on, BC would respond with a 15-6 run over the next seven minutes to take a 19-11 advantage after a Nik Popovic layup with 10:48 left in the half. The Eagles would extend its lead to 12 points, after a pair of Bowman 3-pointers made it 37-25 with 3:15 to go. Columbia would close the half on a 7-1 run and the lead was halved heading into the half.
The Lions scored the first eight points of the second half, going up 40-38 - its first lead since just over two minutes into the contest. BC would respond with seven straight points, taking a 47-42 lead with 14:48 to go, and would not trail the rest of the way.
Winston Tabbs scored seven of his 19 in a three-minute spurt, pushing the BC lead back up to nine - 59-50 - with 9:23 left.
BC and Columbia traded baskets for much of rest of the half. The Lions got within four - 74-70 - with 1:27 go, but BC would use an 8-3 push to close out the win.

4367 days - The last time BC had two players with double-doubles in the same game came on Dec. 28, 2006, when Sean Marshall (30p/10r) and Sean Williams (19p/10r) did so vs. Duquesne. Â

- Ky Bowman - the Nation's Most Dynamic Guard - led all scorers with 24 points. The junior added 10 rebounds, five assists, and a blocked shot in 40 minutes of play.
- Bowman was 8-of-12 from the floor - including 5-of-9 from beyond the arc.
- Nik Popovic added career-highs in scoring and rebounding, with 22 points and 14 boards off the bench. Popovic connected on 7-of-10 from the floor and 8-of-10 from the foul line. Five of his 14 boards were on the offensive glass.
- Wynston Tabbs scored 16 of his 19 points in the second half. The freshman guard made 8-of-13 shots (3-6 3FG) to go along with three rebounds and three assists.
- Jairus Hamilton - in his first collegiate start - added eight points, four rebounds, an assist, and a steal in 18 minutes.
- Chris Herren Jr. also earned his first collegiate start - in place of the injured Jordan Chatman - and added five points, two rebounds, and a steal in 27 minutes.
- BC connected on 50.9% (29-57) from the floor, including 53.8% (14-26) in the second half.
- The Eagles dominated the glass, winning the overall battle of the boards, 44-32. BC grabbed 14 offensive boards, leading to 19 second chance points.
