Cotton Line Lifts Eagles to 4-1 Victory Over Merrimack
November 03, 2018 | Men's Hockey
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The line of David Cotton, Julius Mattila, and Logan Hutsko combined for three goals, eight points, and a plus-7 rating on Saturday night, leading Boston College to a convincing 4-1 Hockey East victory over visiting Merrimack at Kelley Rink.
The Eagles, who scored three times in the first eight minutes of the second period, evened their league record at 1-1-0 and picked up their first win of the season. The Warriors fell to 3-6-0 (2-3-0 HEA) and lost their fourth straight at Conte Forum.
Cotton led the way with his second four-point game of the season, factoring in every BC tally with two goals and two assists. Mattila collected a goal and an assist, his second and third points of the weekend, while Hutsko assisted on each of the game's first two scores.
Cotton nearly sealed his second hat trick of the season in the third period, but his one-timer down low was robbed by Drew Vogler. He now leads the team with eight points on five goals and three assists.
Joseph Woll made 29 saves in the BC net for the victory, while he and the rest of the Boston College penalty kill was a perfect 7-for-7.
