Eagles Start Strong in 4-1 Win Over Vermont

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College scored three goals in the first period and never looked back on Thursday night, beating Vermont 4-1 in Hockey East action at Kelley Rink to open a two-game series.
The Eagles (2-5-0) won their second straight to move above .500 in the league at 2-1-0, while UVM fell to 3-4-0 (1-3-0 HEA).
BC had four different goal scorers and 10 different point producers in the victory, while linemates David Cotton and Logan Hutsko each secured two-point nights. Along with Julius Mattila, the Eagles' top offensive line has combined for 13 points and 27 shots in the last two contests, both 4-1 league wins.
Junior Joseph Woll stopped 29 shots and missed his fourth career shutout by less than four minutes. Rookies Jack McBain and Patrick Giles each collected their first collegiate points with assists.
The Eagles finished the night 5-for-5 on the penalty kill and have now killed off 15 straight a man down. BC now ranks 13th nationally on the penalty kill at 87.1% overall.
Boston College pushed its winning streak against UVM to five straight and its unbeaten streak in the series to eight in a row (6-0-2). BC won the shot battle 42-30 for a new season-high in shots.
