Top Line Fuels Third Straight Boston College Victory
November 09, 2018 | Men's Hockey
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College's top line remained scorching hot on Friday night, combining for all three Eagle goals and six points in a 3-2 Hockey East victory over Vermont at Kelley Rink.
David Cotton (2 G), Julius Mattila (1 G, 1 A), and Logan Hutsko (2 A) all registered multi-point games for the Eagles (3-5-0, 3-1-0 HEA), who swept the Catamounts (3-5-0, 1-4-0 HEA) and picked up their third straight win. During the winning streak, the Cotton-Mattila-Hutsko trio has combined for 19 points on eight goals and 11 assists.
Cotton scored his first goal 16 seconds into the game, and his one-timer with just 21.6 seconds left in the second period proved to be the game-winner, the second this season for the junior winger.
Classmate Ryan Edquist earned the start in net and picked up the win, stopping 23 Vermont shots. His best save was an outstretched left pad effort in the second period to rob Craig Puffer at the right post during an odd-man situation.
UVM finished the night 1-for-5 on the power play, ending BC's run of 16 consecutive penalty kills.
