Emma Guy leads Eagles with 16 points, 14 rebounds
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College suffered its first loss of the season, 61-57, against Providence at Conte Forum on Tuesday night in a non-conference game. BC is now 6-1, while Providence improved to 2-2.
BC's offense struggled all night as it shot just 30% from the floor and made just 2-for-16 from the three-point line. Despite a poor shooting night, the Eagles were in the game throughout as they forced the Friars into 29 turnovers and had 19 offensive rebounds.
Boston College was led offensively by junior Emma Guy with 16 points and 14 rebounds, her first double-double of the season. It was her sixth career double-double.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1st Quarter – BC's offense sputtered in the first quarter as the Eagles shot 5-for-20 from the floor. Shots were not falling for either team and the quarter ended in a 13-13 tied.
2nd Quarter – The two teams exchanged baskets to start the quarter. Two foul shots by Olivia Orlando gave Providence its first lead with just over six minutes to play. The Eagles offense came alive for a 12-0 run to take a 28-20 lead with 1:41 to play in the half. In BC's run, Milan Bolden-Morris hit the Eagles only three-pointer in the half, while Emma Guy (7 points, 8 rebounds in the half) had an old-fashion three-point play. The pesky Friars cut into the lead with a three-pointer with 15 left on the clock – BC 32, PC 27 – at the half.
3rd Quarter – Nogic hit two three-pointers to open the third quarter and ignited a 12-6 run by the Friars to take a, 39-38 lead. The Friars hit four three-pointers in the quarter and had a six-point lead with two minutes left in the quarter. BC chipped away behind a layup by Marnelle Garraud followed by a foul shot by Emma Guy. Providence went cold and a three-pointer by freshman Makayla Dickens at the buzzer tied the game at 47-47.
4th Quarter – BC scored first in the quarter on a layup by Georgia Pineau but Providence took the lead on a jumper at 7:06. The lead went to three points on another three-pointer Alyssa Geary. After two free throws from Taylor Soule, Emma Guy grabbed an offense rebound and scored to give BC a 55-54 lead with 3:31 left in the game. The Friars went up 57-55 but Emma Guy tied the game with 37 seconds to play on a jumper in the lane off a nice pass from Taylor Ortlepp. Friar guard Chanell Williams put the game away on a driving layup followed by two foul shots with eight seconds to play.
