
Eagles Improve To 7-1 With a 74-60 Win Over Columbia

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Junior Georgia Pineau scored a season-high 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds as Boston College defeated Columbia, 74-60, on Sunday afternoon at Conte Forum in a non-conference game.

Boston College improved to 7-1 and will host Bryant on Thursday night. Columbia is 2-5 and will host Cal Fullerton on Wednesday.

BC built a 21-14 lead after the first quarter as the Eagles shot 50 percent from the floor and hit three three-pointers, two from sophomore Sydney Lowery (13 points). Boston College cooled off in the second quarter but held a 37-31 lead at the half.

The second half Boston College built a 12-point lead in the third quarter behind an 8-0 run behind six points from Marnelle Garraud. The lead extended to 14 points at the end of the quarter as the Eagles held Columbia scoreless in the final three minutes. Two layups by Pineau and a three-pointer by Lowery gave BC a 58-44 lead going into the final quarter.

A 6-2 run by BC pushed the lead to 18 points to open the fourth quarter. With 4:53 left in the game, freshman Clara Ford's hook in the paint pushed the BC lead to 20 points. Â BC shot 44 percent from the floor in the final quarter.

BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Junior Georgia Pineau led BC with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Sydney Lowery had 13 points on 3-for-4 from the three-point line.
- Freshman Taylor Soule had 11 points and five rebounds. She was 5-for-7 from the floor in the game.
- Freshman Marnelle Garraud finished with 11 points and a career-high eight rebounds.
- Boston College won the battle of the boards, 49-33.
- BC had 17 assists, as junior Taylor Ortlepp tied her season-high with seven assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1st Quarter – Boston College led after the first quarter, 21-14, behind six points from Sydney Lowery (two three-pointers) and four points and three rebounds from Taylor Soule. BC shot 50 percent from the floor and had a 13-8 edge in rebounds in the quarter.
2nd Quarter – The Eagles held an 11-point lead that slowly slipped to four points behind Columbia's 6-4 run. BC held Columbia scoreless in the final 2:34 as the Eagles took a 37-31 lead at the half.  Emma Guy had six points and four boards, while Georgia Pineau had six points and seven rebounds at the half. Lowery led BC with eight points.
3rd Quarter – BC's lead grew to 12 points behind an 8-0 run before two foul shots by Columbia's Sienna Durr at 4:50. Boston College hit five of its last seven shots in the quarter to take a 58-44 lead going into the final quarter. Pineau had six points in the quarter, while BC shot 53.3 percent from the floor and went 2-for-3 from long range.
4th Quarter – Freshman Taylor Soule scored four points in the Eagles 6-2 run to open up the final quarter and take a, 64-46, lead. The Eagles were 7-for-8 from the floor and the lead grew to 20 points after a half hook in the post by Clara Ford at 4:46.
