Barrow records first career shutout and win, Keller and Newkirk both reach 100 career assists
WORCESTER, Mass. – The No. 4/4 Boston College women's hockey team topped Holy Cross, 5-0, in a Hockey East matchup on Saturday at the Hart Center Rink. Kelly Browne scored two goals while Molly Barrow made 16 saves for her first career shutout. Eleven different Eagles recorded points on the afternoon, with Browne, Makenna Newkirk and Cayla Barnes each recording two points.
The Eagles took until midway through the period to score, but took just two minutes to put two pucks in the net. Barnes opened the scoring 8:37 into the period and then exactly two minutes later, Delaney Belinskas earned her first of the season. Barrow finished the first frame with six saves.
A little over seven minutes into the second, Browne potted her third goal of the season. It would be BC's lone goal of the period but Browne scored less than two minutes into the final frame to push the lead out to 4-0. Just like in the first period, BC once again scored quickly, with Erin Connolly finding the back of the net less than a minute after Browne's tally.
The Eagles kept the Crusaders off the board the rest of the way, with Barrow making 16 saves for her first career shutout in her first career start. Newkirk and Megan Keller each recorded their 100th career assist in the win.
BC killed off six penalties – including a 5-on-3 as the clock ticked under 10 minutes to play – and went 1-for-3 on the advantage. The Eagles had a 50-16 edge in shots on goal, with Julia Pelletier finishing with 45 saves for Holy Cross.
