CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- AJ Dillon rushed for 149 yards in his return to the Boston College lineup, as the Eagles propelled past No. 25 Miami, 27-14, on Red Bandana Night at Alumni Stadium. Â The All-American running back carried the ball 32 times on the night, while also catching two passes for 18 yards.
BC scored on its opening drive for the sixth time this season, covering 88 yards on 10 wide-ranging plays. Â Dillon - returning to the field for the first time since Sept. 29 - ripped off a 25-yard run from scrimmage on the first play. Â Brown connected with the tight end tandem of Tommy Sweeney and Korab Idrizi on passing plays of 14 and 11 yards, respectively, getting the Eagles into Miami territory. Â Wide receiver Jeff Smith connected with Brown on a 27-yard strike before the duo returned to their usual roles to complete the scoring drive with a nine-yard pass with 12:25 left in the opening frame.
On its next possession, Miami responded with a touchdown drive of its own. Â After a 62-yard kickoff return, the Hurricanes covered 44 yards on six plays to tie it at 7-7 with 6:03 left in the first.
The Eagles took the lead right back, marching 77 yards on 10 plays, capped by a five-yard keeper from Brown. Â BC covered 32 yards on the ground on the scoring drive, while gaining 32 yards on another passing play from Smith to running back Travis Levy.
After a Miami three-and-out with 1:50 left in the first, BC chewed up over seven minutes on a 20-play, 79-yard drive that ended with a Colton Lichtenberg 21-yard field goal, extending BC's lead to 17-3 with just under nine minutes to play in the first half.
The Hurricanes used a big gain on the kickoff to set up their second TD drive of the game. Â After going 58 yards on the return, Miami used 10 plays over the next 4:24 to make it 17-14. Â BC would hold onto the three-point lead heading into halftime.
Back-to-back turnovers by the Hurricanes led to a chain of scoring plays for the Eagles midway through the third quarter. Â Hamp Cheevers logged his fifth interception of the season after a ball from Miami QB Malik Rosier was tipped and batted around. Â Cheevers returned the pick to the Miami 14-yard line and led to another Lichtenberg field goal, this time from 23 yards out, making it 20-14. Â On the ensuing Hurricane possession, Taj-Amir Torres tallied his second pick of the season, returning it to the Miami 14-yard line. Dillon took it all the way on the next play, making it 27-14 in favor of the Eagles with 6:26 left in the quarter.
BC's Brown threw his first interception since Sept. 22 at Purdue, setting the Hurricanes up at midfield with 2:13 remaining in the third quarter. Â Miami got it to 1st-and-goal at the BC nine-yard line, but the Eagles manufactured a goal-line stand and took over on downs with 12:44 to play.
The Boston College defense helped seal the victory down the stretch, forcing turnovers-on-downs in each of the Hurricanes' final three possessions.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- AJ Dillon recorded his 11th career game with 100 yards or more. Â BC is 9-2 when the All-American running back going over 100 yards rushing.
- Eleven different receivers hauled in a pass on the night, including quarterback Anthony Brown. Â Tommy Sweeney and Kobay White led the way with three catches apiece for 28 and 22 yards, respectively.
- Wideout Jeff Smith caught two passes for 19 yards and a touchdown and was 2-for-2 for 58 yards, connecting on a 27-yard pass to Brown and a 31-yard connection with Travis Levy.
- Smith - a former quarterback - completed multiple passes in a game for the Eagles for the first time since going 5-for-6 for 24 yards and a TD in a 19-16 loss to No. 5 Notre Dame at Fenway Park on Nov. 21, 2015.
- The Eagles registered 22 first downs. Â They were 6-for-15 on 3rd down and 2-for-2 on 4th down on the night.
- Colton Lichtenberg was 2-for-3 in field goal attempts on the night, connecting from 21 and 23 yards out. Â He missed on a 44-yard attempt, which would have been his career-long kick.
- Isaiah McDuffie led the Eagles with 12 tackles, including six solo stops. Â Will Harris made nine tackles (six solo).
- Connor Strachan and Zach Allen each tallied a sack and combined for three tackles-for-loss (12 yards). Strachan made nine tackles and Allen registered six.
- Hamp Cheevers built on his national-leading interception total. Â The Trenton, Fla. native tallied his fifth pick of the season in the third quarter, helping to set up a BC field goal.
- Taj-Amir Torres' second INT of the season - also in the third quarter - translated to a BC touchdown. Â In total, BC scored 10 points off of turnovers versus the Hurricanes.
- Boston College is now 6-0 when it gains more than 400 total yards in a game.
- The Eagles' held Miami to 49 total yards and two first downs in the fourth quarter.
- Tonight's win is the sixth all-time versus Miami. Â It was the first meeting between the two schools since the 2012 season.
- Boston College travels to Virginia Tech on Saturday, Nov. 3. Â Kickoff in Blacksburg, Va. is set for 3:45 p.m. and the game will air on Raycom Sports. Â The BC IMG Sports Network will air the game on 850 WEEI AM, beginning with the pregame show at 3:15 p.m.
