Eagles Compete at John Thomas Terrier Classic

BC had 10 top 10 finishes on the day
BOSTON, Mass. – The Boston College women's track and field team competed in its fourth meet of the indoor season on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 26-27 at the Track and Tennis Center at Boston University for the John Thomas Terrier Classic.

Top finishes on the day include a third place finish in the 500 meter dash by senior Julia Barron. Junior Paige Duca has won both the mile and the 3000 meter run at meets earlier in the indoor season and continued her strong performances with a third place finish in the 1000 meter run on Friday. Both the 4x400 relay team and distance medley relay team finished in first place in their respective events. On the day, the Eagles had 10 individuals/relay teams finish in the top 10.

BC returns to action on Feb. 2-3 when it competes at the New England Championships in Boston, Mass at the Reggie Lewis Track & Field Center.

BC Highlights:
- Sophomore Emma Taylor competed in the 200 meter dash, crossing the line in 26.43.
- Senior Shannon Ahern finished in the top 30 in the 400 meter dash with a time of 58.62 to qualify for the New England Championships. Sophomore Monice Heil, junior Sierra Tonnesen, sophomore Ashlyn McKenna and classmate Hannah NcNeil also had strong performances in the event.
- Julia Barron earned a third place finish in the 500 meter dash with a personal best time of 1:15.55 to qualify for the New England Championships and the ECAC Championships.Â
- Senior Molly McCabe finished in the top 10 in the 800 meter dash, crossing the line in 2:11.06, shaving five seconds off her 800 time from the previous week. She earned eighth place overall.
- Duca continued her strong indoor season with a third place finish in the 1000 meter run, crossing the line in 2:48.34 to qualify for the New England Championships. Senior Julia Gregory and junior Gianna Bender also finished in the top 10 in the event, crossing the line in sixth and 10th place respectively at 2:51.34 and 2:54.90. All three women ran season-best times and also qualified for the ECACÂ Championships.Â
- Freshmen Miranda Thompson and Kylee Raftis both broke five minutes in the one mile run with times of 4:57.16 and 4:57.72 to finish in 14th and 15th place, respectively. Both women qualified for the New England Championships in the mile. Both ran personal bests in the event.Â
- Seniors Laura Leff and Ashbrook Gwinn both broke 10 minutes in the 3000 meter run with times of 9:55.44 and 9:56.75 to qualify for New England's. Junior Sarah Marvin, freshman Lauren White and junior Jessica Martin also qualified for the New England Championship's in the event. All of the women in the event ran season-best times.Â
- The 4x400 meter relay team of Julia Barron, Ahern, Heil and McCabe finished in first place overall with a time of 3:50.34.
- The women's distance medley team of Thompson, McCabe, Ahern and Raftis won the event, crossing the line in 11:45.61.
- In the field events, junior Elizabeth Knoll and sophomore Abigail Gothers finished in the top 10 in the high jump, both clearing 1.60 meters. Â
- Sophomore Julia Lyons earned a second place finish in the long jump with a jump of 5.55 meters to qualify for the New England Championships.
