Junior Paige Duca moves to fourth place in BC history in the mile
BOSTON, Mass. – The Boston College women's track and field team competed in its sixth meet of the indoor season on Friday, Feb. 9 at the Track and Tennis Center at Boston University for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.

Junior Paige Duca ran a 4:37.55 in the one mile run to move into fourth place in the BC record books behind Jillian King (2013), Caroline King (2011), Angie Graham (1997) and Liv Westphal (2016)Â . She stands behind three All-Americans, two of whom were Eagles of the Year and the other of which was a US Olympic Trials qualifier. Duca is now 11th on the indoor NCAA list for the mile this season.

The Eagles will open Championship season when they compete in the ACC Championships on Feb. 22-24.

BC Highlights:
- Senior Julia Barron finished second in her heat in the 60 meter hurdles, crossing the line in 9.26. Barron was also the top BC finisher in the 400 meter run with a time of 56.95, which is good for 24th place out of 154 runners. She moved into 10 place all-time in BC history in the 400.
- Senior Johanna Celli, sophomore Monica Heil and classmate Emma Taylor all ran season-bests in the 400 meter dash, crossing the line at 57:04, 57:57 and 57.8, respectively.
- Senior Molly McCabe finished in 15th place out of 166 runners in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:09.82, which is a season-best and qualifies her for the ACC Championships.
- Junior Gianna Bender ran a PR in the 800 of 2:13.73, besting her previous mark by nearly two seconds.
- Sophomore Julia Lyons won her heat in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.93 to move to top-ten all-time in the BC record books.
- Senior Shannon Ahern crossed the line first for the Eagles in the 1000 meter run with a time of 2:52.81 for 18th place overall in a field of 78 runners. Her time qualifies her for the ECAC Championships.
- Duca ran a time of 4:37.55 in the one mile run for a ninth place finish overall in a field of 246 runners. With her time, Duca is now in fourth place in the BC record books.
- Freshman Miranda Thompson ran a PR in the mile of 4:52.
- The 4x400 meter relay team of Barron, Celli, Heil and McCabe finished in sixth place on the day with a time of 3:47.90 – a season best. The team moved into top 10 in the BC record books and is one of the strongest seed times BC has had heading into the ACC Championships.
- Senior Laura Leff was the top BC finisher in the 3000 meter run, crossing the line in 9:52.15.
- In the field events, sophomore Amanda Sinkewicz earned a PR in the shot put with a throw of 12.01 meters.
