Cortez recognized for seven-RBI performance
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College senior Tatiana Cortez earned another accolade for her seven-RBI performance March 8 against Penn. Cortez earned D1 Softball HERO of the Week on Friday.

Cortez received 54.02 percent of the vote and 625 total votes for the award, competing against four other hitters for the top single-game performance in the nation from last week.

The Houston native received the nomination for her performance in the 8-1 win against Penn on March 8. She batted 3-for-4 with two home runs and seven RBI.

Cortez tied BC's all-time record for single-game RBI. In the process, she tied Tory Speer (class of 2014) for the team record in career RBI (142). Cortez later broke that record with a two-run home run March 8 against South Florida.

The catcher/third baseman also earned ACC Player of the Week honors on Tuesday. Cortez hit .500 with three home runs, 14 RBI and a 1.167 slugging percentage in five games last week.

Overall, Cortez has recorded seven home runs and 27 RBI – both second in the ACC. Cortez has hit .329 with a .414 on-base percentage and .712 slugging.
