
McNulty, Austin Go 2-0 In Win Against Georgetown

Eagles win five singles matches, doubles point
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College men's tennis team defeated Georgetown, 6-1, in a non-league match Saturday at the Flynn Recreation Complex.
BC (1-2) won five singles matches – all in straight sets – and the doubles point. Senior Aidan McNulty and freshman Derek Austin each went 2-0 in the contest, winning in singles and doubles play.
Freshman Alexander Chieffalo moved to 3-0 in singles play for the season with a 6-1, 6-2 in sixth singles. Junior Kent Mukai advanced to 2-1 in singles play this season with a 6-1, 6-3 victory in fifth singles.
Senior Hank Workman clinched the Eagles' victory with a 7-5, 6-3 win in second-singles, giving BC a 4-1 lead.
Austin recorded his first-career dual-season singles victory with a 6-2, 6-4 victory, giving the Eagles a 3-1 advantage. McNulty gave the Eagles a 2-1 lead with a swift 6-2, 6-0 win in first singles.
The Eagles completed a comeback to take the doubles point. Georgetown (1-2) took an early advantage with a first-doubles victory. However, McNulty and junior Connor Mullins secured a 6-2 win in second doubles.
Then all eyes went to the fourth court for the tightly contested third-doubles match. Austin and freshman Sean Mullins pulled away for the 7-6 victory clinched doubles for the Eagles.
BC resumes action and opens ACC play next Saturday at noon at Notre Dame.
