Freeman, Karle, Kordell are Top Finishers At ACCs

The women's swim and dive season concluded at ACC Championships this weekend.
The Boston College women completed the 2016-17 season at the ACC Swimming and Diving Championships last week. On the first night, the 200 medley relay team of Caroline Quindlen, Taylor Covington, Victoria Lin, and Grace Kunkel set a new BC school record. They combined for a time of 1:44.46, breaking the old mark of 1:45.22 set in 2016. Throughout the rest of the week, the Eagles turned in multiple season-best times and personal records.Â
BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Erika Freeman, Kristina Fecarotta, Lauren Quinn, and Julie Dobson turned in a season-best time of 7:35.16 in the 800 yd. freestyle relay.Â
- Erika Freeman was BC's top finisher in the 200 yd. IM (2:07.10), 200 yd. freestyle (1:51.06), and 100 yd. freestyle (52.21). In the 100-yard freestyle, Freeman's time was both a personal record and a season-best time for the Eagles. Her 200 yd. freestyle marks as the second-best time in Boston College history, trailing only her own mark by four one-hundredths of a second.Â
- Senior Grace Kunkel was a significant contributor to the record-breaking performance in the initial relay. Kunkel's freestyle split of 23.26 ranks as the third fastest in school history. Individually, she was the team's top performer in the 50 yd. freestyle (24.06).
- Abigail Kordell finished her career at Boston College with a personal best time in the 400 yd. IM (4:33.06). Kordell was the Eagles' top finisher in both the 400 yd. IM and the 200 yd. breaststroke (2:22.96).Â
- Katherine Karle was BC's top finisher in the 200 yd. backstroke. Her time of 2:04.35 was both her personal best, and the fastest 200 yd. backstroke swim of the season for the team.
- Ina Elcott led off the 200 yd. freestyle relay with a new personal record of 24.17. Elcott also turned in a 57.49 in the 100 yd. butterfly.
- Lauren Quinn swam three personal best times: 200 yd. freestyle (1:54.06), 100 yd. freestyle (53.03), and 800 yd. freestyle relay split (1:53.97).Â
- Cole Malatesta, Jack McCarthy, and Corrine Larkin concluded their Boston College diving careers at this year's ACC Championship. Malatesta leaves the program with two school records in the 1M (336.68) and 3M (374.18).
