BC wins its fifth straight; moves to 8-0 at home on the season
How It Happened
Jordan Chatman tied his career-high in scoring with 30 points and Boston College won its fifth straight game, dispatching Richmond, 78-73, in overtime on Saturday at the Conte Forum.
The Eagles outscored the Spiders, 12-7, and never trailed in the extra frame.
Boston College jumped out to an 11-1 lead and led by as many as 17 points in the first half, thanks to Jordan Chatman's hot shooting hand. The junior guard made six of his first seven attempts from the floor, including 4-of-5 from beyond the arc. But Richmond would chip away at the Eagles' lead, closing the half on a 19-6 run as BC held onto a 39-33 advantage at the break.

To start the second half, Boston College would connect on its first four field goal attempts, building as much as a 12-point lead at 56-44 with 12:24 to play. But Richmond would begin to chip away as the Eagles went cold, using a 9-1 push to cut the BC lead to four points. It was a 16-3 run that spanned 9:18, giving Richmond its first lead of the game - 60-59 - with 3:06 to go in regulation. Both teams traded baskets down the stretch and BC led by two - 66-64, on a Jordan Chatman 3-pointer with 41 seconds to play. Richmond would tie it up on its next possession, forcing overtime.

- Boston College shot 45.3% from the floor for the game and dished out 11 assists to just 10 turnovers.
- BC improves to 8-0 at home on the season - the first time since the 2008-09 season that the Eagles have won their first seven home games. That year, BC opened with a 10-0 mark at Conte Forum.
- Boston College registered its fifth game of the season making at least 10 3-pointers. The Eagles connected on 10-of-25 from deep on the afternoon.
- Richmond outscored BC, 40-24, in the paint.
- It was the first overtime affair in close to two seasons for the Eagles. The last overtime game for BC was Dec. 30, 2015, when the Eagles downed UNH, 72-67.
