All five starters score in double figures; BC wins its third straight

All five Boston College starters reached double figures in scoring as the Eagles won their third straight, downing Columbia 81-66 on Tuesday night at Conte Forum.
The Eagles trailed by as many as 11 early on, after a Columbia 3-pointer made it 21-11 with 11:25 left in the half. But the Eagles offense orchestrated a 24-5 run over the next 7:22, taking an eight-point lead (34-26) on a Jordan Chatman trey with 4:03 to go in the half. BC would lead by as many as 10 points late and took a 43-35 lead into the locker room at the half.
Columbia would cut it to five early in the second half - 48-43 with 17:42 left in regulation - before BC rattled off nine unanswered points, capped by a Ky Bowman 3-pointer, making it 57-43 with 15:50 to play. That 9-0 spurt led to a 21-6 push over the next six minutes, extending the BC lead to 20 at 69-49 with 11:26 to play. Columbia would get as close as 14 late, but BC kept it out of reach for the Lions the rest of the way.

- Jerome Robinson led Boston College with 21 points - his third straight game with 20 or more points. The junior was 5-of-11 from the floor (2-5 3FG) and 9-9 from the charity stripe. He added five rebounds, four assists, and three steals in 38 minutes.
- Jordan Chatman added 20 points - his second consecutive 20-point performance - making 8-of-16 shots (4-8) to go with two boards and two assists in 35 minutes.
- Ky Bowman registered his second double-double in as many games, with 13 points and a ca*reer-best 12 rebounds. He also dished out six assists and blocked two shots in 37 minutes of action.
- Nik Popovic scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half, while corralling eight rebounds and tallying two assists.
- Steffon Mitchell added 10 points, eight rebounds, and two assists.
- It is the fourth time that five BC players have reached double digits in the scoring column and the third time all five starters scored at least 10.
- Coming off the bench, Luka Kraljevic grabbed four boards, blocked a shot, and tallied a steal in nine minutes.
- BC improves to 6-0 at home on the second - the first time since the 2008-09 season that the Eagles have won their first six home games. That year, BC opened with a 10-0 mark at Conte Forum.
- The Eagles shot 45.6% (26-57) from the floor and grabbed 45 rebounds to just 28 for Columbia. BC dominated the defensive glass, grabbing 89.5% of its DReb chances.
- During BC's 24-5 first half run, the Eagles connected on 8-of-10 from the floor, including 5-of-6 from beyond the arc, during the 7:22 stretch.
- Tonight's game marked the fourth time this season that the Eagles hit at least seven 3-pointers in a half. BC did it on five occasions all of last season.
- Jerome Robinson has now scored 20 or more points in three straight game, five overall this season - and 23 times in his career.
