Health, New Month Keys on Friday at No. 11 UVA

Eagles starting to get fully healthy as the team heads into the final month of the season
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College men's soccer team will travel to face No. 11 Virginia on Friday night, Oct. 6, in an ACC battle. Kickoff at Klöckner Stadium is set for 7 p.m., and the game will be live on ACC Network Extra, which can be streamed on WatchESPN.com or the ESPN app.
BC (3-7-0, 0-4-0 ACC) is hoping the new month will bring better results for the team. After starting the season 2-0-0 in August, the Eagles went 1-7-0 in September. Much of that was impacted by on-going injury issues that plagued the team's back line, including absences of all four preferred starters during the course of the month – most for parts of multiple games.
Now with October here and just six games left in the regular season – including four key ACC contests – the Eagles are looking to gain momentum as the ACC Championship approaches.
Friday's opponent – 11th-ranked Virginia (7-1-2, 1-1-2 ACC) – comes into the game after an overtime win over visiting Portland on Monday night. It was the Cavaliers' sixth overtime game of the season so far, and third in the last four games.
The Cavs enter at 1-1-2 in ACC play, with their lone loss on the season coming against No. 7 North Carolina two weeks ago. That defeat snapped UVA's 21-game home unbeaten streak that dated back to October 2015.
The Eagles have faced Virginia 11 times in the all-time series, with BC holding a slight edge – 5-4-2 – in the series. However, in Charlottesville, the Eagles are 2-3-0 against the Cavs. The Eagles have claimed points in four of the last five games between the teams, including a 2-1 win at home in 2015 behind a pair of Simon Enstrom goals.
Following Friday's game at UVA, the Eagles will return to Boston and face Harvard on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 4 p.m. at the Crimson's Jordan Field. The game will be televised live on NESN and streamed on the Ivy League Digital Network.
