HOW IT HAPPENED
- 2' | The Demon Deacons found the first chance of the match as a ball played through the BC backline found the foot of Ema Twumasi, who launched a booming shot over the crossbar of Antonio Chavez Borrelli's goal.
- 4' | Henry Balf settled the ball at the top of the box and looped in a high cross towards traffic in the box. The pass met the head of Tomas Gudmundsson, but his header shot was saved by Wake Forest goalkeeper Cases Mundet, keeping the match scoreless after just a few minutes.
- 25' | Heidar Aegisson's throw-in was punched out by Andreu Cases Mundet. Forbes got the rebound and headed the ball across the box to Gudmundsson, waiting at the 18-yard line. The defender turned and fired in a low shot, but it dribbled wide left.
- 32' | A hard foul by Wake's Logan Gdula won the Eagles a free kick just outside the corner of the penalty area from about 21 yards out. Callum Johnson lined up for the free kick, but the low shot kickoff low off the Deacs' wall.
- 38' | Wake's Omir Fernandez carried a ball towards the penalty area, and sneakily played a streaking Ema Twumasi through the Eagles' defense. Chavez Borrelli flew off of his line and parried the shot away, out of the reach of Twumasi, but he was flagged for being offside
- 45' | WAKE GOAL – Cutting across the BC defense, Fernandez ran onto a through ball from Gdula, and just outran his defender to slice a shot off with the outside of his right foot, sneaking his shot inside the far post just before the stroke of halftime to give the Deacs a 1-0 lead.
- 51' | Lasse Lehmann played Simon Enstrom through on the far side, and the forward took a long touch to beat his defender and carried the ball towards the penalty area. He cut back and found a wide open Johnson, in the middle of the penalty box, who took a one-timer from penalty spot, but the shot sailed high over the bar
- 68' | WAKE GOAL – Fernandez doubled the Deacs' lead with his second of the game. He beat his defender just outside the far top corner of the penalty area and sidefooted his shot through two BC defenders and found a sliver of space along the near post past a diving Chavez Borrelli.
- 76' | WAKE GOAL – Twumasi fed Fernandez at the top of the box, who fired a low side-footed shot that was pushed wide by Chavez-Borrelli. The rebound landed across the goal right into the path of Justin McMaster, who powered in a low shot for a 3-0 lead.
- 78' | With the Eagles on a counter, Balf was whistled for a foul near the Eagles of the Wake penalty area, and after contesting the call, was shown a straight red card and ejected from the match, forcing the Eagles to play a man down the remaining 12 minutes of the game.
- 83' | WAKE GOAL – Brandon Servania played Twumasi inside the box who cut the ball around his defender to get enough space and slotted in a low shot past Chavez Borelli to tack on another tally to the Deacs' lead.
