HOW IT HAPPENED
- Boston College shot 61.5 percent in the first quarter and took a 17-12 lead behind eight points from sophomore Mariella Fasoula and six from freshman Georgia Pineau.
- The Eagles offense went stagnant in the second quarter as it took five minutes before Pineau hit a layup and BC's lead was just 19-16. Clemson took the lead on two foul shots from Danielle Edwards with just under a minute to play. A layup by Fasoula gave BC the one point lead at the half, 27-26.
- BC and Clemson exchanged hoops before Emilee Daley hit her first three to push the lead to five points – 35-30 – with less than five to play. Daley hit her second three at 1:05 to give BC a 40-32 lead. BC took a 42-36 lead after three despite shooting 38 percent from the floor.
- The Eagles pushed the lead to 10 points behind two consecutive three-pointers from Kelly Hughes. Clemson cut the lead to eight points on a steal and layup by Nelly Perry (13 points). The Eagles pulled away behind two straight hoops from Fasoula and a reverse layup by Hughes with 2:55 to play. BC shot 46 percent in the quarter and hit 2-for-5 from the three-point line, both coming from Hughes.
