CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College women's basketball dropped a 79-65 decision to Wake Forest on Sunday afternoon at Conte Forum in its home finale.
The Eagles move to 5-25 overall and 1-16 in ACC play, while the Demon Deacons even their record at 14-14 and 4-12 in conference action.
Prior to tipoff, BC honored its seven seniors and two managers on Senior Day in the final home game of the year.
Lily Carmody paced the Eagles with 14 points on five made field goals and a perfect 4-for-4 effort at the free throw line. She also recorded a game-high five steals to go along with three assists. Amirah Anderson added 12 points, knocking down four 3-pointers.
Kayla Rolph finished with 11 points and pulled down a team-best eight rebounds, while Jocelyne Grier contributed 10 points to round out the double-figure scorers.
The two teams exchanged baskets early in the first quarter. After Kiera Edmonds converted a layup to even the score at 10-10 with 3:45 remaining, Wake Forest closed the frame on a 16-5 run to take a 26-15 advantage into the second.
The Demon Deacons maintained control in the second quarter, holding a double-digit margin for much of the period to carry a 40-29 edge into halftime. Athena Tomlinson's 3-pointer with 25 seconds left trimmed what had been a 14-point deficit.
Rolph opened the third quarter with a three to bring BC within single digits, but Wake Forest answered with five straight points to stretch its lead. The visitors entered the fourth quarter ahead 60-46.
Boston College mounted a surge in the final period as freshmen Anderson and Grier connected on three consecutive possessions from beyond the arc to cut the deficit to five, 60-55. The teams traded 3-pointers on the next two trips, keeping the margin at five, but Wake Forest regained momentum over the final 6:33 and stretched its advantage back to double digits to secure the win.
BC wraps up the regular season next Sunday at 2 p.m. on the road against Syracuse.
