BC HIGHLIGHTS
- The Boston College men's track and field team was back on the track this week in a meet at Boston University against the hosting Terriers, UMass Lowell and Sacred Heart.
- Senior Obinna Nwankwo headlined the day for the Eagles, again breaking the team's 300m record, a mark he set back in December at the BU Opener. Improving the record by just over a half-second, Nwankwo crossed the line in 34.33 for the new team all-time best.
- Also in the sprints, senior Nicholas Nash had exceptional performances. Nash took home a fourth-place overall finish in the 200m dash after taking third place in his competitive heat. Nash's personal-best time of 22.13 also qualified him for the IC4A Championships in March. Later, in the 400m, Nash finished first place overall, crossing the line in another IC4A-qualifying time of 49.09.
- Senior Darren James competed in the 400m as well, finishing just behind Nash in third place with a time of 49.88.
- In the 60m hurdles, senior Devaun Bovell was impressive, placing third overall with a time of 8.41.
- A slew of Eagles finished towards the head of the pack in the 800m race. Sophomores Andrew Willis (1:55.15), Matt Morano (1:56.39), Michael Saxon (1:58.09) and Oliver Boucher (1:58.14) crossed the line in third, fourth, fifth, and sixth places, respectively.
- In the longer distance event of 3000m, sophomore Sawyer Maher had an impressive personal record time of 8:39.14, landing him fourth place overall.
- Other IC4A qualifiers on the day included sophomore Ian Ritchie in the mile and the team's 4x400m relay. Ritchie's time of 4:13.26, also a new personal best, landed him in fifth place overall. Closing out the meet, the 4x400m relay team of James, Nash, sophomore Robert Brennan and Nwankwo took home first place in 3:17.82.
