BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Junior right-handed starter Justin Dunn struck out a career-high 11 batters en route to his fourth win of the year. Over his seven inning start, he allowed just five hits, two runs and only one walk.
- Sophomore Donovan Casey made his first appearance in right field and at the plate since breaking his hand on April 10. In his first at bat in the third, he doubled for the Eagles' first hit of the game. He led the Eagles with 2-for-3 day, scoring twice.
- Sophomore Jake Palomaki tied a career-high with three RBIs on a 1-for-4 day with a walk and run. He has reached base in 45 of the Eagles' 52 games, including the last 12, and he has a hit in nine of the last 10 games. The walk was the 40th of the season, good for second on BC's single-season list. He holds the record with 46, set last year. His 86 career walks is 10th in BC record books.
- Redshirt sophomore RHP Bobby Skogsbergh picked up his third save with a two-inning performance, retiring all six batters he faced with two strikeouts.
KEY PLAYS
- The Eagles scored early and often, notching runs in the third, sixth, eighth and ninth.
- Dunn shut down the Green Wave, allowing just seven base runners and Skogsbergh closed the door in the eighth and ninth.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles struck in the third inning, scoring two to take an early lead. Casey started things off with the double off the wall in left. Senior Logan Hoggarth drew a walk to put two on and sophomore Mitch Bigras moved them into scoring position with a chopper to first. Palomaki plated a run with a grounder to second. Hoggarth hustled home on a wild pitch to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead.
- BC extended its lead in the sixth with two more runs. With one down, Palomaki lined one into right and right fielder Lex Kaplan dropped the ball, allowing the Eagle to reach second. Junior Michael Strem singled and then stole second to move into scoring position. Junior Nick Sciortino knocked one into left to plate both runners.
- The Green Wave got on the board in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead in half. Dunn surrendered back-to-back hits to put two on and a double steal put them on second and third. Dunn got a pop up in the infield for the first out and a strikeout for the second out. Hunter Williams launched one to left center. Hoggarth ran it down but the ball came out of his glove when he hit the wall, allowing two runs in the first triple allowed by Dunn in 2016. The righty ended the inning with his 10th K of the game.
- The Eagles added a run in the eighth to take a 5-2 lead. Bigras led off with a double to the corner in left and Palomaki battled for a 14-pitch at bat, fouling off nine pitches, before drawing a walk. Strem laid down a bunt off new pitcher RHP Patrick Duester to bring in Bigras.
- BC tacked on two more in the ninth for the commanding 7-2 lead. Junior Johnny Adams singled up the middle with one down and Casey was hit by a pitch to put two on. The Wave went back to the bullpen for LHP Sam Bjorngjeld, who gave up a single to Hoggarth to load the bases. After Bigras' bunt was fielded to forced out Adams at the plate, Palomaki chopped one to the right side of the mound and hustled to first to beat the throw. Casey scored from third and Hoggarth flew around the bath path to score from second.
