Dunn Named ABCA/Rawlings All-Northeast Second-Team

The right-hander was the 19th overall pick in the 2016 MLB Draft
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College junior Justin Dunn earned a spot on the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-Northeast Region Second Team on Wednesday. It was the first time the starting righty earned the honor.

The 19th overall draft pick – chosen by the Mets – finished the 2016 season with a 2.06 ERA, fourth on the Eagles' single-season record list, and a .214 opponent batting average, tied for seventh at BC. His career 3.66 ERA is eighth all-time at The Heights.

The Freeport, N.Y., native was named to Baseball America All-American Third Team and he picked up All-ACC Third-Team and NEIBA All-New England Second-Team accolades. He was also named a semifinalist for the Greg Olson Award which honors college baseball's breakout player of the year. He finished his junior campaign with a 4-2 record, two saves and three combined shutouts. He made eight starts this season and recorded a 2.19 ERA with 49 strikeouts and just 15 walks in those outings. Before transitioning to a starter, he had nine appearances out of the bullpen, racking up a win, two saves, 17 strikeouts and just three walks.

Dunn was the fifth Eagle to be drafted in the first round in BC history and the second in the last two years. He also tied for the highest pick of a BC pitcher a Chris Lambert was taken 19th as well in the 2004 Draft.
