BC HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES:
- Boston College ended their season with a final record of 10-9 while Friday's game marked the final collegiate game for the team's six seniors: Emily Zlevor, Sarah Mannelly, Kara Magley, Kate Rich, Molly Erdle and Caroline Margolis
- For the six seniors, they end their collegiate careers tied for the most wins in program history. With a combined 52 wins in their four years on The Heights, the class of 2016 tied the 2015 class for the most wins in program history. They also become the first class in program history to make the NCAA Tournament in each of their four years, respectively. Â
- Sarah Mannelly ends her Boston College career with 255 career points on 173 goals and 82 assists. With those marks, she finishes her career in third place in the program's points and goals list, while her 82 helpers are fourth most in program history. With her five points this afternoon, she ties the program record for points in a single NCAA game, which is also held by teammate Caroline Margolis and former Eagle Covie Stanwick. Her 74 points this season were a personal best for the New Canaan, Conn. native while her season point total was also the sixth most all-time amongst program players. Â
- Before the game, four Boston College players were named to the IWLCA All-Northeast Regional Teams. Mannelly and Kenzie Kent netted IWLCA All-Northeast Regional First Team honors while Molly Erdle and Kate Weeks were both named to the IWLCA All-Northeast Regional Second Team. With these accolades, these four are eligible for IWLCA All-American status, which will be announced at a later date.
- Freshman Dempsey Arsenault registered her second goal of her career on a free position opportunity in the first half. She also matched a career high with four draw controls for the second time in her career.
- With four caused turnovers on the afternoon, senior Molly Erdle set a new record for caused turnovers in a single NCAA game at BC all-time. Her four caused turnovers surpassed her previous record of three CT's, which she set in the 2015 NCAA Tournament game against Loyola (Md.)
- The maroon and gold fall to 2-5 all-time in the tournament all-time.Â
- Stony Brook's Courtney Murphy set a new NCAA Division I record in the second half. With 5:19 remaining, the junior recorded her 99th goal of the season, the most goals ever scored in a single season by a Division I women's lacrosse player.Â
TURNING POINT
- After Sarah Mannelly evened the score at eight-apiece with 14:32 left in the second half, Stony Brook went on a 3-0 run to extend their lead to 11-8 with 5:19 remaining. Despite Caroline Margolis' late goal to bring BC back within two, they were unable to regain possession as the Seawolves ran out the clock.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- BC jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 5:28 following goals from Margolis and Weeks.
- Stony Brook responded with three straight of their own before BC got two back on goals from Dempsey Arsenault and Weeks.Â
- Following four straight tallies from the America East Champion Seawolves, BC found a groove that saw them notch three in a row and allowed them to even the score at 7-all. In that span, Weeks recorded her third of the game while Chandler and Mannelly each found the back of the net for the first time on the afternoon.Â
- After SBU regained the lead, Mannelly struck again with an unassisted goal to push her season total to 38.Â
- Caroline Margolis rounded out the scoring for the Eagles, tallying her 30th goal of the season on a free position shot with 3:42 on the clock.Â
