Eagles set to compete against BU, Northeastern, MIT and Radcliffe

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Eagles return to the water this Saturday when they compete in the women's rowing Beanpot on the Charles River. The annual event, which sees Boston College face off against Boston University, Northeastern, Radcliffe and MIT, is set to begin at 7:48 a.m. with the Fourth Varsity Eight race.

This is the first action of the season for all but Boston College, who opened up the spring season last weekend in Philadelphia with a doubleheader that featured the opponents of Saint Joseph's, Penn and Temple.

In the morning runs, the Eagles took first in the Third Varsity Eight against the Hawks and Quakers before sweeping Temple in six races during the afternoon.

The most previous Beanpot event occurred two years ago after last year's event was cancelled due to inclement weather. During the spring 2014 event, BC took first in the Second Varsity Eight (6:45.1), Varsity Four (7:24.4), Second Varsity Four (7:42.7) and Third Varsity Eight (7:13.0) events.
