- Sophomore Allyson Frei pitched 1.2 scoreless innings of relief, allowing no hits, walking two and striking out one. She has now gone seven straight games with allowing one run or less.
- This marked the first time sophomore Jessica Dreswick has conceded more than two runs in 13 games.

TURNING POINT
- Virginia Tech collected four runs in the fourth and fifth inning and held on for victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hokies got things started in the bottom of the fourth inning when Kelsey Mericka lifted one over the center field fence with a runner on. Caroline Schoenewald would later score courtesy of a throwing error.
- Virginia Tech increased its lead to 4-0 in the very next inning, as a Caitlyn Nolan double plated Olivia Lattin.
