BC HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- Following Friday's 13-5 loss to No. 2 Gators, the Eagles are 45-23 in inaugural matchups, including post season, all-time dating back to the first season as a varsity program. This was only the second loss in an inaugural game during coach Walker's reign at BC. Tonight's loss snapped a four game winning streak in non-conference play.
- Now at 8-0 this season, No.2 Florida has defeated five teams who were ranked in the top-14 of the IWLCA poll.
- The Eagles won the draw control battle, 11-9, and committed only 13 fouls to Florida's 21. Â
- With her ninth goal of the season, junior Kate Weeks has more goals in seven games this year than she did in 18 games last year (8 goals) and in 16 games in 2014 (5 goals).
- Sophomore Emma Schurr matched a career high with three ground balls, the most since she tallied three against Loyola in last season's NCAA game vs. Loyola.Â
TURNING POINT
- Sarah Mannelly, Caroline Margolis and Sam Apuzzo notched early goals to give the Eagles an early 3-2 lead, but the nation's second ranked squad fired off four straight goals between the 17:30 and 9:34 marks of the first half to jump out to a 6-3 lead. The Gators never trailed again.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sarah Mannelly got the scoring started on the Eagles first possession when she beat Florida's Mary-Sean Wilcox for her 14th of the season.Â
- Five minutes later, Caroline Margolis helped BC regain the lead, 2-1, as she notched her 10th of the season.
- After Florida evened the score at two-apiece, freshman Sam Apuzzo netted her 14th of the season to give the maroon and gold a 3-2 advantage with 17:53 remaining in the first half.
- Despite Florida scoring the next four goals, Kate Weeks added the Eagles fourth of the evening on a feed from Tess Chandler to cut the deficit to two, 6-4, a score that would remain until the break.
- Kayla O'Connor registered the lone Eagles goal of the second half on a free position shot with 20:42 remaining in the second half. Â Â
