BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Sophomore Donovan Casey extended his career-long hit streak to 12 games, tied for ninth in BC record books (dating back to 2005), on a 2-for-3 day, scoring a run and driving one in.
- Junior catcher Nick Sciortino led the Eagles with a 3-for-4 day and threw out two runners on the base path.
- Four different Eagles tallied BC RBIs as Casey, seniors Joe Cronin and Logan Hoggarth and junior Michael Strem knocked in runs.
- Junior Justin Dunn earned his first save of the year, throwing the final two innings, allowing four hits, one run and two Ks without allowing a walk.
KEY PLAYS
- After Indiana State tied the game at two in the third inning, BC regained the lead with two runs in the bottom of the inning on RBIs by seniors Joe Cronin and Logan Hoggarth.
- The Eagles led by three in the ninth and Dunn on the mound. After a run came in, Dunn shut the door on the Sycamores with a strikeout to end the game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles got on the board early, taking a 2-0 lead with runs in the first and second. Junior Johnny Adams tallied a one-out single in the first, advanced to second on an error and scored when Casey hit one to left. In the second, Hoggarth led off with a base hit to center and the Eagles loaded the bases with infield singles by Sciortino and senior Gabriel Hernandez. Sophomore Jake Palomaki grounded into a 463 double, plating Hoggarth.
- The Sycamores tied the game in the top of the third on two outs. King walked Andrew Gutierrez and Tyler Friis and Hunter Owen drove them in with a double to left. The righty got a fly to right to end the inning.
- It didn't take long for BC to retake the lead, scoring two in the bottom of the inning. Strem led off with a single up the middle and advanced to second on wild pitch. Casey followed with an infield hit to short and Cronin drove Strem in on a bunt single. With runners on second and third and one down, Hoggarth grounded out to second to plate Casey.
- The Eagles added one in the fourth when Palomaki knocked a one-out single through the right side and Adams reached on an error to third. Strem plated Palomaki with a single to left, making it a 5-2 game.
- The BC defense kept the Sycamores off the board in the seventh. Kaden Moore reached on an infield hit, just beating Hernandez's throw. After King got the first out swinging, Andy DeJesus drew a walk to put two on. King retired one more by way of the K before freshman southpaw Dan Metzdorf came in to face left-handed pinch hitter Dane Giesler. Giesler laced one into center, but before Moore could cross home plate, centerfielder Strem relayed it to shortstop Adams, who gunned it to Hernandez for the out at third, ending the inning and holding off Indiana State.
- The Sycamores were able to tally a run in the ninth with Dunn on the mound. The right-handed closer hit Moore with a pitch with one out and gave up a single up the middle to put two on. He came back with a strikeout swinging for the second out, but pinch hitter Chris Ayers knocked the first pitch he saw down the right-field line to score Moore. Ruled the ground-rule double, Indiana State had runners on second and third with two outs and Dunn ended the game with a strikeout swinging for his first save.

- The Eagles start the season 6-0 for the first time since 2009.
- Junior right-handed starter Mike King went 6.2 innings, allowed just four hits, two runs, two walks and struck out three. He surrendered the Eagles starters' first earned runs of the season, giving up two in the third, but after allowing the runs in on a double, King retired the next 10 batters he faced before giving up an infield single in the seventh.
- For the third time this season, the Eagles did not record an error.
- They also tallied over 10 hits for the second time in 2016.
