BC HIGHLIGHTS

Freshman Loren DiEmmanuele went 1-of-3 at the plate, stole a base and scored the Eagles' lone run. She has now recorded a hit in five of the team's seven games this year.
Freshman Kendra Friedt made her second appearance of the season, throwing two scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out a pair.

TURNING POINT

Illinois broke open the game in the top of the fourth, scoring four runs on four hits.

HOW IT HAPPENED

DiEmmanuele scored on an error from a failed pickoff attempt to stake Boston College to a 1-0 lead after three innings.
The Illini answered back in the next inning, loading the bases with no outs. Stephanie Abello would get walked to score a run before Remeny Perez singled home two more. Carly Thomas would later single in another run to cap off the inning.
Illinois would add more in the fifth, knocking in three runs in the inning. With a runner on second, Nicole Evans singled to increase the Illini advantage to 5-1. The team would add two more on a fielder's choice and off a wild pitch.
With two outs in the top of the seventh, Illinois padded its lead by way of a fielding error. Two runs plated from the miscue.
