ACC Schedule Opens With Trip To Notre Dame

Eagles seek 6-5 record in ACC openers
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College opens its conference slate while seeking its third win of the season when they travel to Notre Dame on Sunday, February 21. Opening draw is scheduled for 12 noon ET and the Eagles will be playing inside at Notre Dame's Loftus Sports Center.Â

GAME NOTES
- Overall, the Eagles are 3-6 against the Irish, and are 2-0 against them since they joined the conference in 2014. They have won the last three matchups between the two squads.Â
- The Eagles are 5-5 in ACC openers dating back to its first season in the conference in 2006.Â
- In the most recent matchup between BC and Notre Dame, Covie Stanwick exploded for eight points on seven goals as the maroon and gold defeated UND, 15-6, at the Newton Campus Field.Â
- The Eags are first in the conference in goals/game (18.5), points/game (24.5), and draw controls/game (19.0). Although it's early in the season, BC has three players in the top-10 for ACC goal scorers per game and points per game while they have two in the top-10Â for assists/game.
- No. 8 Notre Dame is off to a hot start, having defeated Jacksonville and No. 15 Stanford by a combined score of 31-14. Graduate student Barbara Sullivan, a 2015 Tewaaraton Finalist, was recently named Lacrosse Magazine Player of the Week following her team's success in the first week of play to the 2016 campaign.Â
- In Wednesday's non-conference defeat of Holy Cross, history was made as Caroline Margolis became the 20th player in program history to record 100 career points, a feat she accomplished with her first half goal. Sarah Mannelly moved into sole possession of sixth place in the BC career assists record. She currently has 49 career assists. Her next assist will put her in a tie for fifth place all-time with Kristin Igoe (2008-12), who recorded 50 career assists.Â
- Sam Apuzzo continues to show dominance early in her collegiate career. The freshman notched her second straight hat trick in as many collegiate games while her eight draw controls at Holy Cross were the fifth most ever in a single game for a BC player.
- Captain Tess Chandler also matched a career high with five points in Wednesday's game.Â
- The Eagles have won its last six regular season games dating back to last season. The last regular season loss for the Eagles came vs. Duke on April 4, 2015 (13-8). BC fell in the ACC Quarterfinals to Syracuse (14-13, 2OT) and to Loyola (Md.) in the NCAA Tournament (19-12) during that span.
LAST TIME OUT
- Boston College had 11 players who had at least one point in the most recent matchup at Holy Cross this past Wednesday. They defeated the Crusaders on their home turf, 19-6, in front of a crowd of 456 in Worcester. Tess Chandler and Sam Apuzzo led the way for BC, recording seven of the team's goals.Â
