Eagles Host Syracuse On New Year's Day

Tip time set for 12:30 p.m. in ACC opener
THE GAME
• Boston College opens the new year and its ACC schedule by hosting Syracuse on January 1 at 12:30 p.m.
• The game will be televised by ESPNU and can be heard on the BC IMG Sports Network.
• The Eagles took eight days off after defeating Providence on December 23 at home, 79-67.
• The Orange is coming off of an 80-56 win against Cornell on Tuesday at the Carrier Dome.
• Syracuse is 0-3 away from home this season.
• BC and Syracuse will play their two games against each other just 13 days apart this year.
• The Eagles visit the Carrier Dome on January 14.
THE SERIES
• Syracuse owns a 45-24 advantage in the all-time series against Boston College.
• The Orange has won the last four meetings between the programs after BC upset previously undefeated #1 Syracuse in the Carrier Dome on February 19, 2014.
• BC is just 1-5 against Syracuse since the Orange joined the ACC for the 2013-14 season.
• The first meeting in the series came on January 30, 1959 in Syracuse - a 78-71 Orange victory.
NEED TO KNOW
• Freshman Ky Bowman was named the ACC Freshman of the Week after averaging 24.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals in two games last week.
• He was 20-for-29 (.690) from the floor in the two contests.
• Bowman scored 33 points against Fairfield and then scored all 16 of his points in the second half against Providence.
• That honor came off the heels of sophomore Jerome Robinson winning ACC Co-Player of the Week honors the previous week.
• Robinson ranks third in the ACC in scoring (20.5), second in steals (2.08) and 10th in 3-point percentage (.391)
• He is one of two players in the ACC to rank in the top 10 in both points and steals (NC State's Dennis Smith, Jr.).
