Eagles Face No. 3 UNC In ACC Quarterfinals

EAGLES FACE #4 NORTH CAROLINA IN ACC QUARTERFINALS
• Boston College travels to #4 North Carolina on Sunday in the quarterfinals of the 2016 ACC Men's Soccer Championship. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
• The Eagles (7-7-3) tied #24 Virginia Tech in the opening round, 2-2, but advanced by winning the penalty kick shootout, 4-3.
• The Tar Heels (11-2-3) earned the #1 seed in the tournament and a first-round bye.
• North Carolina leads the all-time series 11-3-1 and have won the last seven meetings dating back to 2010.
LEWIS BREAKS CAREER ASSISTS RECORD
• Senior Zeiko Lewis broke the Boston College career assist record in the regular-season finale against NC State.
• He assisted on two goals in that win and now has 27 in his career.
• Lewis broke Louis Papadellis' record of 26 assists that has stood since his final season in 1980.
• The Pembroke, Bermuda product also ranks 10th all-time at Boston College with 55 points.
LAST TIME vs. NORTH CAROLINA
• Nils Bruenig scored four goals in a 5-0 Tar Heels victory back on September 23.
• Bruenig scored the first four North Carolina goals and started his night in the 33rd minute when he put home an Alan Winn cross for the 1-0 lead.
• Two minutes later, Winn and Nico Melo combined for the assist on Bruenig's second strike.
• In the second half, Bruenig scored just 1:07 apart in the 82nd and 83rd minutes. Zach Wright assisted on the hat trick goal and then Wright and Skahan both helped on the fourth tally.
• Winn got a goal of his own in the 85th minute to finish the scoring. Jeremy Kelly earned the assist.
• Five of UNC keeper James Pyle's six saves came in the second half.
• Senior Isaac Normesinu forced a pair of saves while classmate Maximilian Schulze-Geisthovel led Boston College with three shots.
BC ADVANCES ON PKs
• Boston College and #23 Virginia Tech played to a 2-2 draw on Wednesday but Boston College advanced with the penalty kick shootout win.
• Virginia Tech struck first in the 44th minute with just 1:30 left in the first half. Alessandro Mion took a shot right in front of Saladin who made the save. The ball bounced right back to him and he headed it in for the 1-0 halftime lead.
• BC got its first equalizer in the 56th minute when Normesinu went on a break from the defensive end. He sent a nice through ball to Lewis who finished it to tie the match.
• Mion struck again in the 85th minute with Daniel Damiani and Juan Pablo Saavedra assisted on his second goal of the match.
• A minute later, Enstrom handled the ball on the right baseline. He found Lewis who was open in the box and he found the left side netting to tie it again.
