BC HIGHLIGHTS & GAME NOTES
- Austin Cangelosi has now accounted for five goals in his last two games after scoring his first-career hat trick on Friday night at Maine. The Estero, Fla. native did so in dramatic fashion, as well, scoring three different types of goals, including a power play, short-handed and even-strength goal. Cangelosi's hat trick stands as Boston College's 340th hat trick in program history. He scored his hat trick in 34:19. It was also a natural hat trick (three uninterrupted goals).
- Not only did Cangelosi account for his first hat trick, the 5-foot-8 centerman has now scored both a power play goal and a short-handed goal in back-to-back contests. Cangelosi has accounted for eight power play goals and four short-handed tallies in 128 games. Overall, Cangelosi has scored 44 career goals.
- Ryan Fitzgerald notched another multi-point performance, including his fourth goal of the season and 61st goal, all-time, in the maroon and gold. The North Reading, Mass. native surpassed Ken Hodge (1984-87) and Jim Mullen (1963-66) on the career goals list and is now 36th, all-time, on The Heights goal scoring chart.
- Chris Calnan scored his second goal of the season 64 seconds into the third period to give the Eagles a 4-1 lead. The Norwell, Mass. native's marker tonight stood as the 20th goal of his career.
- David Cotton scored his first-career power play goal in the third period at Maine. The Parker, Texas native now has three goals and seven points, overall, this season.
- Freshman goaltender Joe Wall has surrendered only four goals in as many outings after stopping 22-of-23 shots in his fourth-career victory between the pipes for Boston College.

FIRST GOAL - FIRST PERIOD – Daine Gibson – 13:04 – POWER PLAY
• Boston College killed off a Connor Moore infraction early in the first but Maine cashed in on its second chance at 13:04 of the first period. As time was expiring on a Chris Calnan high-sticking call, Patrick Shea trigged on Joe Woll from the far left post. Woll made the initial stop by Daine Gibson crashed the net and snuck the puck past Woll's left pad with 6:56 to go in the first for the 1-0 lead.
SECOND GOAL - FIRST PERIOD – Austin Cangelosi – 18:25 – POWER PLAY
• Maine's Sam Becker was whistled for holding at 16:35 of the first period for BC's first power play opportunity and with 10 seconds left in that window, Austin Cangelosi made Maine pay on the near post. David Cotton made the Black Bear penalty kill shift over after rimming the puck down to Christopher Brown on the far post. Cangelosi scurried from between the circles, accepted Brown's cross-crease pass, and buried the one-timer in tight to tie it up, 1-1, just before the first horn.
THIRD GOAL - SECOND PERIOD – Austin Cangelosi – 3:01 – SHORT HANDED
• JD Dudek was flagged for goaltender interference early in the second period after charging Maine's Matt Morris, but it was no issue for the Eagles' penalty kill after Cangelosi netted his second down a skater. Casey Fitzgerald broke up a Black Bear possession behind BC's net and backhanded it off the boards to Michael Kim. Cangelosi broke out into the neutral zone and Kim hit him with the long, outbound pass with no one in sight. Cangelosi raced towards Maine's net and made his mark with a nifty backhand move to claim the 2-1 lead shorthanded.
FOURTH GOAL - SECOND PERIOD – Austin Cangelosi – 14:19 – EVEN STRENGTH
• Cangelosi capped off the hat trick in transition at 14:19. Matthew Gaudreau broke the play out of Boston College's end to Cangelosi on the red line. Cangelosi shifted up to Moore on the right flank and put the puck in the right circle. Moore could not get the stick on his first attempt and offered the puck up to Cangelosi on the next attempt for the one-timer. Cangelosi ripped it just within the right dot for his third marker of the night at a 3-1 BC lead.
FIFTH GOAL - THIRD PERIOD – Chris Calnan – 1:04 – POWER PLAY
• Boston College came out swinging in the third and utilized its speed to attack early in the third to make a 4-1 lead. Jesper Mattila fished the puck off the wall to Ryan Fitzgerald in the neutral zone. Chris Calnan joined the fray to make it a two-on-one and the Eagles executed perfectly. Fitzgerald walked it down the far side, pulled Morris to the near post and deferred to Calnan in the slot for the successful one-timer a 4-1 lead.
SIXTH GOAL - THIRD PERIOD – David Cotton – 5:32 – POWER PLAY
• The Eagles netted their second power play goal after Scott Savage went for a slap shot along the far boards. Savage did not get all of puck and it trickled to Brown to the goal line extended. Cotton spun around in front of the crease and buried Brown's feed for the 5-1 lead at 5:32.
SEVENTH GOAL - THIRD PERIOD – Ryan Fitzgerald – 7:07 – POWER PLAY
• Ryan Fitzgerald capped BC's offense with another quick goal in transition a minute and a half after Cotton's tally ay 7:07. Casey Fitzgerald and Matthew Gaudreau worked it deep out of BC's end to Ryan Fitzgerald in the flat. The senior assistant captain juked around a Black Bear on the red line and walked in on backup goaltender Stephen Mundinger and beat him five-hole for the 6-1 icing on the cake.
