Eagles Open Season Against Nicholls State Friday Night

THE GAME
• Boston College opens the 2016-17 regular season on Friday night by hosting Nicholls State at 7 p.m. inside Conte Forum.
• BC is coming off of a season where it went 7-25 and 0-18 in ACC action.
• The Colonels went 11-23 and 6-12 in the Southland Conference last season.
• Boston College's roster is noticably different this season, featuring seven newcomers with four freshmen and three transfers (all of which are eligible to play this season).
• In the exhibition win against Stonehill, the Eagles started only two players that were regular starters last season - sophomores Jerome Robinson and A.J. Turner.
• Freshman Ky Bowman earned a start in the backcourt while grad transfers Connar Tava and Mo Jeffers started at the four and five, respectively.
THE SERIES
• This will be the first meeting all-time between Boston College and Nicholls State, which is located in Thibodaux, Louisiana (58 miles west of New Orleans).
• Nicholls State head coach Richie Riley is in his first season with the Colonels.
• He came over from Clemson where he served two seasons as an assistant coach under Brad Brownell.
ROBINSON, JEFFERS COMBINE FOR 41 IN WIN OVER STONEHILL
• Sophomore Jerome Robinson finished with a game-high 27 points on 10-for-22 shooting as Boston College won its exhibition against Stonehill, 81-74, last Thursday.
• He also added seven rebounds.
• Graduate student Mo Jeffers added 20 points and seven boards. He was 9-for-12 from the field.
• Sophomore A.J. Turner dished out a game-high seven assists.
• Boston College shot 54.1 percent from the field in the game and assisted on 21 of 33 baskets.
• The Eagles held a 56-22 advantage in points in the paint.
• Neither team had a lead larger than four points in the first half. Ryan Roach hit a 3-pointer for Stonehill to give it a 32-28 lead with 5:07 left in the half.
• From there, Boston College went on a 10-2 run over the next five minutes to take a 38-34 lead and led, 40-37, at the break.
• After Stonehill scored the first bucket of the second half, BC went on a 10-2 run to take a 50-41 lead at the 14:40 mark. Sophomore Jordan Chatman capped the run with a 3-pointer.
• The Skyhawks chipped away with a 22-13 scoring stretch to tie it up, 63-63, with 5:48 to go.
• The Eagles responded by scoring nine of the next 12 points to build a 72-66 lead and held on the rest of the way.
