Head of the Charles to Kick Off the Fall Season this Weekend

Women's rowing is set to kick off this weekend in the 52nd Head of the Charles Regatta
The Boston College women's rowing program officially starts the 2016-17 fall season with the Head of the Charles Regatta on the Eagles home course along the Charles River. In its 52nd year, the HOCR attracts 11,000 competitors and 400,000 spectators from around the world to the banks of the Charles for the annual event, and this year, Boston College will race three events on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
The Club Eight (bow #16) will kick off racing for the BC women on Saturday at 1:51 p.m. in the 19th event of the day. This crew is led by Junior Coxswain Amanda Bakke.
On Sunday, the Boston College Championship Four (bow #19) will race at 2:02 PM. This crew is led by Senior Coxswain Erika Charnley racing in her first Head of the Charles. The Varsity Eight (bow #22) will compete in the Championship Eight event, scheduled to begin at 2:36 p.m. The Championship Eights are the premier event of the regatta, showcasing some of the fastest collegiate crews in the regatta.
