The Eagles competed in three events this weekend at the 52nd annual Head of the Charles Regatta
BOSTON, Mass. -  The Boston College rowing team kicked off their fall season on the largest event in Boston, the 52nd Head of the Charles Regatta. With over 10,000 competitors and close to a 500,000 in attendance, the Regatta is a special event that has intertwined itself into the history of Boston. As part of the event, Boston College put three boats in the water.
Kicking off the season on Saturday for the Eagles was the Second Varsity Eight. Led by Junior Coxswain Amanda Bakke, the crew raced in challenging conditions in the Club Eight event placing 21st out of 39 with a time of 18:15.Â
On Sunday the Eagles raced in two of the most competitive events in the regatta, the Championship Four and Championship Eight. The Eagles four placed 14th with a time of 20:39 and the Varsity Eight placed 25th finishing with a time of 18:31. Â
"all boats executed portions of their races well, but we were know we can race better with more training and hard work" said Head Coach Steve Fiske about the teams performance. Â
The freshmen squad will race at the Green Monster at Dartmouth on Sunday November 6th, and the whole team will close the fall season with the Foot of the Charles on Saturday November 12th.Â
