
Freshmen Boat Takes First at Green Monster Regatta

The freshman Eagles leave New Hampshire with the top finishes on the day
HANOVER, N.H.- On Sunday, the Eagles freshmen made their way up to Hanover, N.H. to compete in the Green Monster Regatta against Dartmouth, Boston University, Vermont, Massachusetts and MIT. Â Taking home first place, the Boston College "A" boat led by freshman coxswain Alexia Mattos, dominated the field finishing with a time 16:00.0, a full 27 seconds ahead of the second place Dartmouth "A" boat. As for the the Eagles "B' boat, the crew led by freshman coxswain Olivia Christmann, finished with a time of 17:09.7, taking fifth place among the 13 boats on the water.
Along with taking first place, the two freshmen boats finished the Green Monster Regatta with the fastest combined A & B boat times with a two second margin over Dartmouth.Â
Coach Amy Weatherby commented, "We were happy with the results. Both boats raced hard and aggressively. For all of the freshmen, this was their first race as BC Eagles, and for the novice rowers, their first race in the sport of rowing. We are proud of the progress and hope to continue the success on our home course next weekend."
The Eagles will finish off their fall season Saturday, November 12th when they compete in the Foot of the Charles.
