BIZAL FINALLY BREAKS THROUGH
- Series Notes
- This weekend's series will mark the 24th and 25th meetings all time between the two programs ... BC and Quinnipiac played at least once every year from 2001-02 through 2014-15 before taking a break in the series last year
- BC holds a 16-4-3 mark in the all-time series ... at Kelley Rink, BC is 10-0-1 against the Bobcats, while Quinnipiac is 4-5-2 at home against BC ... the teams met once on neutral ice with BC taking that win
- This year marks the seventh time the teams will play a multiple times in the season
- The teams played three times each year from 2001-02 through 2003-04, with two meetings in 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2011-12
- This year's two-game set marks the first time in program history the teams will play a true home-and-home series, meeting at each other's rinks on consecutive days
- The teams have split the last four meetings, going 2-2-0
- Games have gone to overtime five times with BC holding a 1-1-3 record in those contests
- Five of the last seven meetings have been decided by a single goal or finished tied ... overall 10 of the 23 meetings have been decided by a goal or less
- This weekend will be the third and fourth times both teams meet as ranked opponents ... the last two meetings also saw the teams both hold national rankings when they played
- Player Notes
- The junior and senior classes have each played Quinnipiac at least once, while these will be the first meetings against the Bobcats for the freshmen and sophomores
- Kristyn Capizzano recorded both of her points in the 2013 meeting between the schools, factoring on both goals in the 3-2 loss
- Andie Anastos has a point in each meeting, scoring as a freshmen in Nov. 2013 and picking up an assist on Haley Skarupa's game-winning goal in Jan. 2015
- Kenzie Kent and Toni Ann Miano also recorded assists in the team's Jan. 2015 match-up
- Katie Burt is 1-0-0 in her only contest against the Bobcats, making 18 of 19 saves for the 2-1 win
- Coaching Notes
- Katie Crowley is 5-2-2 all-time against Quinnipiac
- Crowley On The Weekend Series
- "We've seen them quite a bit just because they've played a couple of our Hockey East opponents, as well. They have a very disciplined team. They have some players on their team who can really score goals, but they have a more defensive mindset. They're goalie is back and they have the same group of scorers they've had, so I know they'll be a disciplined team, a hard-working team. They're coming off a loss to Mercyhurst so they're going to be trying to get back on the win cycle, as well."
FIRST RANKED TEST OF THE YEAR
- This weekend's series marks the Eagles' first games against ranked opponents this year
- While BC started the season with a two-game set at Minnesota Duluth, the Bulldogs were not yet ranked and jumped into both polls after going 1-0-1 against BC the first two games in Duluth
