Eagles Host No. 3 Clemson Friday Night

EAGLES HOST #3 CLEMSON FRIDAY NIGHT
• Boston College will host No. 3 Clemson on Friday night at the Newton Campus Field at 7 p.m. The match will be televised by the Regional Sports Network and locally on NESN.
• The Eagles (6-4-1, 2-2-1 ACC) are 1-0-1 in their last two ACC matches, tying Louisville and then winning at Pittsburgh last Friday, 1-0.
• Clemson (8-2-2, 3-1-1) has gone 3-0-1 in the conference after losing its opener to North Carolina.
• Clemson has a 7-3-4 record against the Eagles since BC joined the ACC in 2005 and is 5-0-3 in the last eight contests. The last BC win came in 2009.
BC FALLS TO HARVARD
• Boston College owned a 14-9 advantage in shots, including a 10-1 difference in the second half, but Harvard beat the Eagles, 2-0, Tuesday night in Newton.
• Sophomore Simon Enstrom led the Eagles with three shots on goal.
• Justin Crichlow set up for a throw-in on the left side and sent a strong throw into the box. Dogan held off his defender and took a close range shot that sophomore Cedric Saladin saved, but the rebound went right back to him and he did not miss the second time to give Harvard the early 1-0 lead.
• Boston College nearly got the equalizer six minutes later when senior Zeiko Lewis sent a through ball to a streaking Enstrom. His shot was saved as the keeper came off his line.
• Harvard made it a two-goal game in the 21st minute after Cesar Farias tried to send a cross into the box. It hit a BC defender and fell right to Tyler Savitsky, who took a couple of dribbles and hammered home the insurance goal.
• Sophomore Trevor Davock nearly cut into the deficit with 13 minutes left in the half after Enstrom fed him a great ball, but he came in at a tough angle and the keeper made another quality save.
• The Eagles held a 10-1 advantage in shots in the second half but couldn't find a goal. Enstrom had a couple of more shots on goal in the half but was denied both times by the Harvard keeper.
LAST TIME vs. CLEMSON
• No. 2 Clemson earned a 3-0 victory in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament last season at Historic Riggs Field.
• Clemson took all 11 shots in the first half and Burnikel scored on the ninth attempt in the 38th minute. Iman Mafi sent a cross into the box from the left side and Burnikel put a header into the lower left corner to put the Tigers on top.
• BC tried to tally the equalizer early in the second half as Dylan Pritchard and Mohammed Moro both got shots on goal, but Clemson keeper Andrew Tarbell saved them both.
• The Tiger lead became two goals in the 57th minute thanks to a BC own goal.
• Clemson sealed the win in the 68th minute when John Cajka sent a through ball into the box to Kyle Murphy, who finished it from 12 yards out to seal the win.
